You can expect another update alter today because I wrote another valentine's special. xx /M~
“Hello!” Michael is once again standing in front of his camera, wearing his signature snapback and an old band shirt. “I’m sorry I’ve missed the last few videos but, as you can tell, we’ve moved.” He gestures to the new kitchen he’s in. “We got this new apartment just after new years and it took like a few weeks before we got everything sorted out and then, once we did, Luke got sick.” Michael frowns, hating to think about Luke not feeling well. “and Luke’s one of those people who basically turns into a baby when he’s sick, demanding cuddles and stuff all the time, and I didn’t have time to film anything between cuddling him and making him hot chocolate.” Smiling at the memory of Luke, wrapped up in blankets with his arms held out for Michael, he pauses before continuing. “it did give me time to experience a lot though, and I have posted a few recipes on the website that you should check out.”
Michael pauses again, checking the time and making sure the camera’s still in focus.
“Right, so as I’m sure all of you know, Valentine’s Day is coming up. Now, I’m all for showing your special someone that you love them every day of the year, but I still think it’s good to have a day where you really make an effort.” taking his snapback off for a moment, he runs a hand through his hair before putting it back on. “that’s what I plan on doing today, since Luke will be working all day on Saturday. We’re going to make, I think this is the correct pronunciation, Spaghetti con gamberetti e rucola. In english, that would be spaghetti with prawns and rocket.” a noise coming from the livingroom interrupts him and he pauses again, looking past the camera but deciding that it was his imagination.
“now, this is a pretty simple recipe and I’ll be making enough for four people, so if you only want for two or for more than four you will be able to find the information for that on the website.” another sound from the livingroom makes him pause the video and go check it out, only to then remember that he left the tv on. Slightly embarrassed, who gets scared by a tv, he returns to the kitchen, placing the ingredients on the counter in front of where he’s standing before starting to record again.
“now, the first thing we want to do is bring the water for the pasta to a boil and, when it’s boiling, add the salt. We then add the pasta and leave it for a while, occasionally stirring a bit.” leaving the pan on the stove, he turns and grabs a frying pan. “next, we add three good lugs of extra virgin olive oil to the frying pan and heat that up before taking the garlic, that we’ve chopped up beforehand, and the dried chilli, and throwing that in there as well.” doing all this as he says it, while keeping an eye on the pasta as well, Michael then grabs one of the bigger bowls on the counter.
“since it’s February, it might be a bit difficult to find fresh prawns but if you were to get your hand on some of those, I really recommend you get some. Nowadays, you can buy very high-quality frozen prawns in supermarkets but nothing beats fresh ones, believe me. However, if you are, like me, using frozen prawns, make sure they’re thawed out before adding them to the frying pan. We then sauté them for a minute before adding the white wine and the tomato purée. As always, you’ll find all the details on the website.” checking the time once again, he smiles to himself when he realises that there’s plenty of time left before Luke get’s back from school.
“we leave the sauce to simmer for a few minutes and while it does that you could make sure you have everything ready, the rocket and the lemon, and that your colander is ready. When the pasta is ready, you drain it and I would suggest that you save some of the cooking water in a mug, in case you need it for the sauce later on.” doing this, he then pours the spaghetti into the frying pan and tosses it around in there for a few seconds, making sure it’s all mixed.
“and now we add the lemon juice and half of the chopped rocket and, if you want to loosen the sauce a bit, some of the cooking water. You might also need to correct the seasoning before plating it. When that’s done, you sprinkle some of the lemon zest and the rest of the rocket over it and it’s ready to be served. I’m not gonna do this, since Luke isn’t home yet, and if you don’t want to you can just choose to skip it.” Michael grabs the lid to the frying pan and places it over the food, leaving it on the stove but lowering the heat.
“remember to upload pictures of your versions of this dish on instagram and tag me so I get to see them, check out the website and stay beautiful. I’ll see you next week with a new video. Bye!”

After making sure the food stays work and the pasta doesn’t get overcooked, Michael quickly leaves the kitchen and goes to take a shower, wanting to look his best for when Luke gets home. He washes his hair, hoping it’ll have time to dry at least a little before his boyfriend gets back from school, and gets dressed, for once wearing a pair of jeans that aren’t ripped and a dress shirt. Knowing Luke’s aware of how uncomfortable he is in clothes like that, Michael hopes he’ll appreciate the gesture.
Having gotten dressed and fixed his hair, he returns to the kitchen, taking down the camera and setting the table. Knowing Luke loves candles, he lights a few, placing them on the kitchen counter, in the window and one on the table. He’s then left with a few minutes before Luke’s supposed to be back and he spends them nervously stirring the food around in the pan. And then finally, he hears the door open.
“Mikey babe? I’m home!” when he hears Luke’s voice, Michael’s heart starts beating even faster. He leaves the kitchen, walking towards where Luke is.
The blonde’s still taking his shoes off, struggling with keeping his bag on his back as he leans down to untie them, and Michael leans against the doorframe, watching him. It takes Luke a good five minutes to get the shoes off and Michael can’t understand why he won’t just put the bag down and take them off, but when he does he stands up, finally noticing Michael.
“Well hello beautiful.” he says, successfully hiding how scared he got when he looked up to find someone standing there, and steps closer to the shorter boy. “I’ve missed you.” his voice gets lower as he gets closer and Michael just smiles, wrapping his arms around Luke’s neck and pulling him in for a kiss.
“I’ve missed you too.” he mumbles against Luke’s lips. before pulling away. “go wash your hands, food’s ready.” they kiss again before letting go of each other, Luke heading towards the bathroom and Michael going to get everything ready. He puts the food on two plates and places them on the table, grabbing a bottle of wine from a shelf as well.
“this looks amazing Mikey.” Luke enters the kitchen, giving Michael a short kiss before sitting down, Michael doing the same.
“so do you.” Michael knows it’s a pretty lame thing to say, but Luke blushes and looks away so it definitely works.
“So uh…” Luke clears his throat and looks up again. “do I get dessert later?” and Michael laughs, because of course Luke would ask that.
“you might.” he says, serving the wine. “if you behave.” and there’s something in his voice that makes Luke straighten his back, knowing just how serious his boyfriend is.
“so, what are we having tonight?”
