Morgans POV
I awoke in a super comfy bed.
The sheets smelt of Caelan.
No bed is this comfy, am I still dreaming? Or dead maybe?I sat up slowly. Caelan was on a chair next me, sound asleep. He looked so beautiful when he slept. All of these feelings were washing over me.
I admired him for a little while. His strong arms that carried the weight of the world. His beautiful mouth which spoke such sincere words. His strong legs to lead his people into battle.
And that beautiful smile.
Wait, smile..Caelan opened his eyes "it's rude to stare you know" he smiled at me.
"Haha says you who's the king of staring". I giggled at him.
"The king of staring? I think I'll have that on my gravestone" he laughed. I laughed too."How are you feeling? You scared the shit out of me?" He said
"I'm good, honestly, it's just a little draining is all" I smiled weakly at him.
There's some pretty bad press about witches. I wasn't sure how he would feel about me being an apprentice.
We looked at each other for a while.
" hows Bobby?" I asked
"He's been annoying the crap out of me so as perkier as ever" he smiled.
"You felt it didn't you?" That was not what I expected him say.
"Felt what?" I asked confused.
"The bond" he said quietly. So that's what it is! That's why I feel so close to him.I looked at my hands. I can usually keep my nerves Under control. Billy always told me my hands were a dead giveaway. I would play with my fingers when I was nervous. That is exactly what I was doing now.
"I believe I did" I looked him right in the eye. His face beamed at me. He looked so happy. "I thought you said it was instant connection? How come I'm only feeling it now?" I asked curiously.
"I'm not sure, I noticed it after Bobby woke up". He said
"Of course! I asked the rain to purify his body, we got rained on too, my body was cleansed so the traces of the cloaking potion washed away. The mate bond must, to a degree, be magical which is why neither of us could feel it" I explained
"I can't believe you're my mate, you're everything I have ever wanted" he said
"I have no idea what it means. Or what any of it means Caelan. But. I'm ready to learn".
He gave me a thousand mega watt smile. "And I'll be more then happy to teach you" he replied. "But first, let's eat".
My 2 favourite words in the English dictionary.
I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.
I was starting to smell like the elephant house at the zoo."Where's my stuff?" I asked looking around.
"I had your clothes washed. They looked like they needed it" he gave me a small shrug.
Rude.
It was a good job I wasn't very easily offended."Well, I'll have you know they were my 'clean' clothes. These need disinfecting and a priest to exorcise them" I pulled on my top.
Caelan laughed. He walked over to his closet and grabbed a t.shirt and some joggers and threw them over to me.
"Comfies day it is then" and I walked to the bathroom.
After having what was quite possibly the best shower I have ever had, I sat and towel dried my hair.
The shampoo in Caelans bathroom made my hair so soft. I didn't think it could ever feel like this.I got dressed in the clothes I was given. I had to roll the trouser legs up so I didn't trip and walked downstairs. I found Caelan in the kitchen talking and laughing with the lady who brought me food the day before. Miranda was her name I think? I'm terrible with names.
Caelan introduced us "Morgan this is Miriam, Miriam, this is my mate Morgan".
She looked at me "awe aren't you as pretty as a flower, a bit too thin though, nothing like a few good meals won't fix" she smiled at me and hugged me.She called me a flower, my heart sank thinking about my Granny. "Well thank you for the kind compliment and I will happily accept your offer to fatten me up" I gave her my best smile. She laughed.
"Oh you kids sit down and I'll fix you Both a sandwich".
Caelan took my hand and we sat down at the table. We made small talk and he didn't let go of my hand. Miriam placed a sandwich each in front of us and a glass of juice then disappeared. We ate our food in peace.
When we finished I turned to Caelan.
"go for it", I said
"go for what?" He looked confused.
"You said you were going to teach me what I needed to know, so, go for it, I'm ready" I smiled.
