Chapter 37 - End of Book 1

I helped Miriam prepare some food for our guests.

Caelan was getting to know everyone. Miriam and I were talking when she turned to me and her face dropped and she stared. I looked behind me and Dez was talking to Li Jun.

"It can't be" she whispered and went so pale.
I wasn't happy with her face.

"Caelan!" I called then she fainted, I caught her before she hurt herself.

Caelan came over and panicked, "Miriam? Miri?? Wake up?" He was stroking her face. Meredith came over, knelt down and put something under Miriam's nose and she woke instantly. "Oh Caelan, I thought I saw, I thought that, oh I don't know".

"I think I'll take you take bed Miri, you need a lie down". Caelan said sounding very worried and helped the old lady to her room.

"What was that all about? I hope she's ok? " I said to Meredith.
"Sometimes ghosts aren't just a myth Morgan" and that's all she said. Cryptic as usual, helpful.

Meredith helped me finish the food and everyone started digging in. Jax walked in.
"We missed you at training" he said to me, seemingly oblivious to the house full of people milling around him.
"Oh shit!! I am so sorry Jax! My family from back home are here and I completely forgot!!" I smacked my palm to my forehead.

"It's ok I'm just teasing, Caelan told me" he grinned at me.

"Dick head" I laughed and punched his arm. I introduced him to everyone.

I asked Dez how they found me. I wasn't hiding but nobody knew where I was.

"I think you have your sister to thank for that" he smiled at Meredith.

"Well Morgan, we're a coven, I always know where you are. I have known since you arrived here on that cargo ship. I've been following your journey. When I felt you weaken from the attacks, I told the family you needed us. There wasn't any question they would be here, I spoke to Caelan in his dream to help you wake. We love you Morgan and only want to help, but you must guide us" she said with her beautiful tinkly voice.

Caelan walked in, "how is she?" I asked.
"She keeps muttering 'it can't be', she's really agitated, I'm going to call Kevin and Dr Jeff, see if he can help her"

"Please Caelan, allow me" and without waiting for an answer Meredith breezed out of the room.
Caelan was about to follow her, "she'll be safe with her" he started to relax
"who's Kevin?" I asked curiously
Caelan chuckled "Kevin is Miriams mate, have you never met him? He lives here too"

"What! No I haven't met him, where is he all day?"

"He's a mechanic so works in the town, you've probably just always missed each other" he shrugged.

I sat down with my family after they had all eaten and explained what was happening, Meredith had told them about the war coming and there was no other place they wanted to be.

We discussed training plans and tactics. I was starting to look forward to this war.

Miriam was asleep thanks to Meredith, I have no idea what she did but she had calmed down a lot.
Kevin was back, such a super nice guy, he man hugged everyone in the room like they were all old friends. Except Dez, he seemed a little weird around him.

I was completely euphoric, having everyone I love under the same roof.

Well almost.

Caelans house had 3 guest rooms. Meredith had one, the others respected that she needed a room alone. Dez and Matiás had one, and the girl Eva and Dominic shared the last one. I didn't realise they were together.

Wang, Li and Harrison were camping out on the sofas.

Bobby came home and almost got attacked by 2 Chinese men and a cockney. "How many people live here?" Wang said exasperated.

Caelan laughed. "This is my brother Bobby, and that's all that live here, just the 5 of us".

We were about to say our goodnights when Caelan did the weird staring into the distance thing. Meredith came down the stairs just as he was coming out of his trance, she looked at Caelan, Caelan nodded and she said "Matiás and Li you're needed".

They jumped and got their stuff together. "What's going on?" I asked

"There's a vamp at the border" Caelan said.

"So get your patrol guys to kill it and we can all get some sleep"
"We can't kill it Morgan, the vamp wants to talk. If he wanted trouble he'll have crossed the border" Meredith stated.

"Wang, protect the house. I call to the Earth to protect this house, I call to the heavens to rain down on anyone who may trespass to harm" Meredith said.
I never seen Meredith so authoritative, I liked it.

We got to the border. And there he was, just standing there.

"State your business" Caelan said with his alpha tone.
"I wish to speak to Morgan" he declared. Caelans grip tightened on my arm.

"You can talk to her but do you mind if I restrained you first?" Meredith asked politely.

"Of course" he said.

Meredith summoned some vines out of the ground and wrapped them around his wrists, ankles and waist, that vamp wasn't going anywhere.

I went to walk forward "I don't like this" Caelan whispered to me.

"It'll be ok, he's restrained, Li is in the tree acting as sniper if any more come, Matiás is faster with a sword then a humming bird, Meredith is a super powerful witch and you're here. Not that I can't protect myself" I smiled at him. He loosened the grip on my arm.

I walked up to the vamp.

"How do you know my name and what do you want?" I looked at the vamp, he looked.. different, if that's the right word. He was smartly dressed. His eyes are more grey then black.

"Hello Morgan its a pleasure to meet you, I'm Peter. Your brother, Billy, sent me I have a message for you".
