"Guys I would like to introduce you all to Morgan, my mate". He smiled proudly at me. I gave a little wave.
"Morgan this is Jax, my Beta" Jax gave me a small bow
"Nice to meet you Jax"
"This is Tye, my Gamma"
Tye smiled at me and Bowed
"It's a pleasure Tye"
"Bobby, you've already met"
He gave me a cheeky smile and waved.
"And this is Kenny, our most loyal and strongest warrior"
Kenny bowed "my Luna" he said. "Hi" I waved.
We sat around the lake in a circle. Caelan still holding on to me. I must admit our little session in the woods have definitely made me feel closer to him. It reminded me of the feelings I had bottled up a really long time ago.
But Now was not the time to be thinking about Luke.
"Thank you for coming so quickly. There's some things you need to know and what I'm going to tell you is to not leave this circle"
"yes alpha" they all said.
"Morgan is part of a vampire hunting team. I learned today that once a human is turned they keep all of their memories which is what makes them so dangerous to their loved ones. Morgan please tell them your theory".
He handed the reins over to me. I sat straighter. "I believe one of your pack members has been turned and giving the information back to whoever is leading this war, the vamps knew what time to attack, had they been an hour later your people would've been at home and the casualties a lot less. The mind still functions it's the rest of the organs that die when you're turned. I'm assuming your mind link wouldn't have been severed so you wouldn't have known who it was. It's quite ingenious really" there were a few raised eyebrows at this point "what we need to find out is who it is".
"And why the children were targeted" Kenny piped in. That was a really good point. Why were the children targeted?
"What's so special about wolf kids?" I asked
"Aside from them being the next generation of wolves and the future of our pack?" Tye said a little too sarcastically.
"I didn't mean any disrespect, I apologise, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on here"
"I'm sorry Luna, my daughter was one of the children taken last night, I shouldn't be disrespecting your words, I owe you my life". He hung his head in shame.
"Please don't apologise to me Tye, I only did what anyone would do, you owe me nothing". He just nodded at me.
"What age do you first shift?" I asked
"Usually around 12/13" Bobby pops up.
"And what was the oldest age of the kids that were targeted?"
They talked amongst themselves. "That would be Reuben, he's around 8?" Jax said
"What's it like the first time you shift?"
I could hear some deep breaths being taken. Clearly getting annoyed at all my questions. Caelan could sense it too.
"It's terrifying Morgan, and really painful. Our parents or the older members of the pack generally guide us through it. It can be quite a lonely time for some wolves, we're really lucky with the pack we have, why what are you thinking?"
"Do the kids have the mind link connection with you?"
"No not until their wolf appears".
"So let's say you're 6 years old, you've been taken away from your pack and your parents, you are taught the ways of the vamp. To kill. To give into your natural instincts. For no one to be there to guide you through the change, to tell you it's going to be ok and know what you're feeling. Then as soon as you've shifted you get let loose. Will you be completely feral?"
"Quite possibly" Jax paled.
"So if the vamps kidnapped a bunch of wolf kids, kept them away for say 10 years, then let them loose?"
"The result would be a massacre" Caelan said quietly.
"The vamps would have an army for the day light hours" I said sharply.
"Fuck" they all said in unison.
