Present day..
"Thanks for the invite pal". I smiled at him and walked away.
I walked the streets for a few hours. Found a few other vamps and took care of them. All in all was a pretty quiet night.
I went back to my motel room had a shower and started to pack.
I'll get a few hours sleep and move on.
Going from town to town can get a little lonely but staying for too long can get super boring too.
It was almost noon, I'd checked out of the motel and was walking through the woods to the next town.
The map said it was around 40 miles straight through. Should be there in a couple of days. I could've taken a cab and been there in a couple of hours but I love the woods and feel really at home here.
Especially in this part of America. The animals I have seen here are amazing. I would never have seen them back home.
I made a vow to Meredith that I would protect nature as best I could. The things she taught me have really helped me on my travels. And it's true what she told me all those years ago. 'Protect nature, and nature will protect you'.
After our first meeting in the woods all those years ago, Meredith realised my connection with nature and helped me tap into it. I wouldn't say I was a full witch now but the things I learned made me an apprentice at least.
Meredith stayed with us at the farm. She and Billy got extremely close. She moved into his room shortly after she arrived.
Most mornings she would come to breakfast with a yellow glow about her. I don't think I have to explain why.
Meredith taught me all about auras, each soul has an aura and changes with the changing of a mood.
Vamps don't have auras.
They don't have a soul to project one.
It was night now, I had been walking for hours. It was around 2am. I ate when I was hungry and rested when I was tired. I gained strength from the Earth around me.
I stopped in my tracks.
I could hear the sound of laughing. Not, I've just heard a funny joke laughing, but a sickening laugh.
I would know that sound anywhere. I walked to where the sound was coming from and heard growling. Curious. There were 3 vamps circling an animal under a net. Not just any animal, but a wolf. A beautiful chocolate brown wolf. A HUGE beautiful chocolate brown wolf.
It could've easily taken at least 1 of them out, why was it just laying on the ground.
I looked closer and noticed it was covered in a metal net.
Meredith and I had created a masking potion using oak leaves, algae and the petals of snow drops to hide our human smell, to vamps we smelt just like the woods.
As long as we were quiet we had the upper hand when attacking them.
I heard one vamp say
"I'm looking forward to this feast, I've heard they're blood is like no other". He was rubbing his hands together and licking his lips. The wolf growled.
They went to attack so I stepped forward.
"You know, wolves are such majestic creatures, if they die out then eco systems can't thrive". They all turned to look at me and I gave them a really sad pout.
"Ooh a little girl just for us! Are you our starter course" he laughed sadistically.
Honestly, when will they say something different. I rolled my eyes.
"You should run little girl, we'll even give you a 1 minute head start" another said licking his lips.
"Aww that's super kind of you but if it's all the same I'd rather get this over with now. I have a nail appointment to get to". The 3 angrily lunged at me.
My best friends were on my back as always. I call them Lucy and Lorraine, they were samurai swords.
Matiás taught me how to use them skill fully. Fully grown vamps were still strong and fast, and 3 together is a challenge.
Oh how I love a challenge.
I fought with them for a few minutes and with one swift move I sliced all 3 heads clean off.
Their body's fell to the ground.
I walked over to the wolf. I know what you're thinking, you should never go to an injured wild animal. I have a chunk missing out of my shoulder from a cougar attack and 3 long deep scars across my middle where a bear got me to prove that theory.
But my job is to protect nature.
The wolf growled at me and bared it's teeth at me.
Well here goes nothing..
