I did not feel any better when I woke up. My head was really hurting, and my stomach might as well have been lit on fire. That didn't stop me from doing what I watned too today. I didn't want to sit there and be able to think about anything, so I decided that I would go an bug Adam like normal. As long as I was able too. I could hear both Mr. and Mrs. DeSantos in the living room and it left me curious to why they were both home. I felt like they had been missing a lot of work and probably because of me.
When I got up, I ventured into the living room to see what they were doing. Rocky was in there with them and it looked like they were playing a game of cards. When I glanced at the time, it was just after eleven. I must have sleep in – well, obviously I did...
I sat down on the couch and looked to see what they were playing. I couldn't quite figure it out, but when I caught onto the concept I started pointing at Rocky's cards in his hands and telling him which ones to play... I ended up helping him win the game and his dad teased him for it since I had helped. Rocky thought it was funny though too because he told me had no clue what they were even playing, so if I hadn't helped him... he would have been totally lost.
"I'm glad you're awake, we need to talk to about something." Mr. DeSantos cleared his throat.
"Just tell me... I don't need none of the we're here for you stuff beforehand... I can tell by your face it's something that I don't want to hear." I muttered, folding my hands in my lap.
"Well, it's not terrible news... Not really anyways." Mrs. DeSantos looked at me.
Rocky didn't seem to know what they were going to tell me because when I looked at him, he just shrugged. It seemed like a genuine shrug, so I believed him. I looked back to his parents, waiting to hear what they could tell me. At this point, I don't think anything could surprise me anymore. I looked back at them and waited to hear that they were going to say.
"I spoke with Mrs. Yates this morning and we finally have a trial date. We're not quite sure how long this will take, but next Wednesday is our first court date." Mr. DeSantos said.
"That's a good thing, right?" I asked.
"Yes – that means a judge has reviewed our pending case and is willing to hear both sides to gather a decision." He said.
"We also got a little bit more good news." Mrs. DeSantos said.
"Yes, I also got the go ahead for us to get your stuff from your grandmothers. You are not allowed to go with us, but it will be me, Angie, and Ms. Maria who gather up your things. We are only taking things from your bedroom, but it would be helpful if you write us a list of anything specific of yours that might not be in the room." Mr. DeSantos told me.
"Wait, really?" I asked.
"Yes, we're going tomorrow to do this." He answered.
"Wow..." I wasn't sure if I believed this was really happening. Things seemed to suddenly be moving so quickly with all of this, and I wasn't sure how I felt about it all just yet.
"See, not entirely terrible news. This is all moving in the right direction." Mrs. DeSantos smiled.
"Yes, it is." I nodded, "Thank you guys again... for everything you've been doing for me. I don't know how I could ever..."
"Don't finish that sentence." Mrs. DeSantos smiled.
"Okay, then I'll start a new one... Can I go to Adam's?" I asked.
"Sure." Mr. DeSantos said, "I'll drive you over there since I'm driving Rocky to Billy's."
"Do I have time to shower?" I asked.
