"Okay, you can do this Izuku" Midoriya mumbled, standing outside of the agency doors with his cases "Just... walk in." he took a deep breath and shoved the doors open. He headed to the receptionist desk, glancing at the plaque that read "Ishii Arisu" before clearing his throat
"Good morning" the woman greeted cheerily, adjusting her wide rimmed glasses to see him better "How may I help you today sweetheart? Have you lost your parents?"
"Ah- n-no" he sputtered, turning red "I'm actually here for the uh, internship? I'm from U.A?" the woman frowned a little as she clacked away at her computer
"Internship?" she repeated "Are you sure you have the right agency? We don't usually take-"
"Hey!! It's the kid!!" An excited voice called out. A tall woman with clipped, light brown hair dressed in workout shorts and a tank top waved as she jogged over. Well, bounded was more precise. She had thin but powerful looking legs and long, furred paws for feet, a long, muscled tail dragged behind her and her hands were clawed and dark. "Hi! You must be the first year from U.A right?"
"Oh, y-yes-"
"Oh gosh I'm so sorry" she laughed, rubbing her neck awkwardly "I was supposed to go pick you up at the train station, in fact I was on my way now!" she held out her hand and Midoriya shook it "Glad you found this place without any issues, you'd be surprised at how many newbies get lost on their way here"
"You know this boy Tando-sama?" the receptionist asked, still typing away and now looking uninterested in the conversation
"Ishii-san~" the woman whined "I've told you to drop the formalities!!" the older woman scoffed lightly at that "Anyway" the woman continued "Yes, this is that kid from the U.A sports fest, the second placer remember? The one that got Usagiyama-senpai all fired up? We offered him an internship with us and it turns out he had the guts to accept!"
"Mm hmm" the lady nodded "That's nice"
"Are you even listening??!" she huffed
"Of course. Here's his paperwork and room key" Ishii replied, dropping a packet and white card on the desk without even looking up "Your luggage arrived earlier today and should be in your room already. A schedule is in the packet and if you lose your room key you're sleeping in the hallway, ask anyone stupid enough to have lost their card. I don't do spares." She squinted at one of the computers in front of her before leaning into the intercom mic "To the Gang Orca sidekicks in meeting room 3, you break something again and I will personally drag you out by your hair and dump your asses on the front sidewalk." her voice crackled over the speakers. She looked back up at Midoriya and the woman next to him "It was nice meeting you. Good luck!" she dismissed.
"I know she might seem a bit cold but she's the reason this agency is still running" Tando told the teen quietly as she collected his papers for him "Ah! Where are my manners?! I'm Tando Joya, Mirko's hero partner, aka: a glorified sidekick"
"I thought Mirko didn't do partners or sidekicks" Izuku pointed out
"She doesn't." Ishii interrupted "Tando just showed up one day and refused to leave so she's technically part of the agency now."
"So mean~" the young woman sighed "But yeah, that's basically what happened." She led Izuku down the hall "You should be proud of yourself kiddo. Mirko's agency doesn't usually take interns or sidekicks and we definitely don't do first-years so this is a rare opportunity!" Midoriya looked over at the desks in the large room they had entered, each one piled with papers and manned by a different sidekick
"If you don't do sidekicks, then why-"
"Why are there so many in the damn building?" she guessed and he nodded. "They're not ours" she chuckled "Agencies like trading sidekicks around with each other and since they assume we have the space, a couple unlucky souls get sent to us" she flashed him a grin "They make for great punching bags" Izuku let out a nervous laugh "Oh don't worry, they won't spar you. We're not that cruel...probably"
