"You enjoy your nap pipsqueak?" Kanga snickered, ruffling Izuku's curls "...Did you sleep in your costume?" The boy shrugged
"I didn't wanna waste time changing" he yawned and stretched himself out
"Is he up yet?!" Mirko yelled, popping her head in and grinning at the sight of her intern awake "Perfect! Let's go, let's go, let's go!!" she bounded off as Midoriya hurriedly put on his accessories and gadgets
"Is it just me," he began "Or is Mirko-San really energetic right now?"
"It's a rabbit thing" Kanga explained with a little smile as she led him down the hall "Rabbits are more active during dawn and dusk, which is why she likes her patrols early morning and at around sunset. Same as me"
"Oh! So that's why you two are always up so early!" Izuku exclaimed, pushing the agency doors open "Are you coming with us tonight?"
"Yes but I'm getting off at a different stop" she told him "I have patrol in a different city today"
"Aw, okay"
"Don't worry" she grinned, snapping his mask lightly "We'll work a night patrol together eventually"
~~~
"So where are we headed?" Midoriya asked, peeking out the train window at the passing city outside
"Near Hosu" Mirko replied, tapping her foot impatiently and ignoring the people around them taking pictures "We're getting off a few stops before, at a city on the outskirts"
"Why the outskirts?" he puzzled, looking over at her "If we're doing patrol, shouldn't we head to the center of the city?"
"Hosu is dangerous right now" she murmured softly "You've heard of the hero killer right?" the boy stiffened, remembering the many articles he'd read over the years and the news report he'd linked back to Iida's brother "Well, word is he's around that area so the crime rate has been up, but you're still a hero-in-training. A capable one sure, but I'm not stupid and I'm not gonna push our luck" she huffed, smiling fondly at him and messing his hair up "Don't worry kid, we're still gonna kick some ass tonight-" the train came to a screeching halt, jostling its passengers and sending them crashing into each other "What the hell?!"
"Ladies and gentlemen, sorry for the inconvenience." The overhead speaker announced, "There seems to have been an emergency on the train line, please remain seated and wait for the heroes to solve this as soon as possible."
"Great" Mirko groaned "We're gonna be late at this rate-"
"Uh, Mirko-san?" Izuku sputtered, tapping her arm frantically as he looked out the window towards the city with other passengers "You might wanna see this..."
"Hmm?" she peeked out the window as well and her face turned serious at the sight of fire and smoke rising up from Hosu not too far away. "Shit." She cursed, pushing her way to the doors and prying them open "Come on kid! Looks like we're walking from here!" Midoriya raced after her, activating his boots and jumping out of the train car
"On it!!"
~~~
Hosu was an absolute mess, Mirko and Midoriya quickly getting swept up in the panic from the civilians trying to get as far away as possible from the multiple fires and fights
"Fuck this." Mirko snarled, pointing to a shop "We're taking the rooftops!! Get up there!!" the two bounded up to the roofs, leaping across buildings in the opposite direction the people were running from and skidding to a stop when they reached the horror in the middle of a flaming plaza "What the hell are those things??!" There were two Nomus below, much like the one at USJ, wreaking havoc and decimating the near dozen heroes trying to hold them off
