It had been a week since the U.A. entrance exam and Izuku was getting restless. Even worse, it was the weekend and since he'd already finished his homework, there was nothing much to do.
"I know I passed that written portion for sure, and I didn't do too bad in the practical either. How many points did I get? I know I got about 3 of those three pointers and a couple two pointers too but was it enough? Ah jeez I should've kept track. Other kids were keeping score-"
"Izuku darling" Inko interrupted with a small smile "You're doing it again. Eat your food and worry later"
"Oops. Sorry ma" he apologized and scarfed down the rest of his meal "Done. I'm gonna run down to the convenience store real quick for some coffee"
"I said eat your food not inhale it!" she scolded as he hurried to the door
"Bye mama!"
~~~
"I'm back!" he announced, slipping off his boots and walking down the hall "I got us some coffee ma!" he looked around "Mom?"
"IZUKU!" Inko shrieked, racing around the corner and tripping over her own feet in her haste. The boy set down his bag worriedly and hurried over to his mother
"What?! What's wrong?!" He yelped, worried she had gotten hurt or something. Instead she held up a very official looking envelope.
"It's here! Your letter!! It's finally here!!" she gasped out. Izuku short circuited for a moment, trying to remember what she was talking about
"Wait my U.A. letter??" he finally blurted out, gingerly taking the envelope from his mother. She nodded, still slightly winded. "Is it okay if I open it in my room?" he asked her quietly
"Of course! It's your letter" she reassured, nudging him towards his room "Go! Go!" He started down the hall before pausing to look back. Inko gave him a nervous smile and two reassuring thumbs up. He gave her an equally nervous smile back and slipped into his room, shutting the door quietly behind him. Izuku made his way over to his desk and turned on the lamp, placing his letter on the table reverently. He simply sat there and stared at it before taking in a deep breath.
"No need to torture myself any further" He sighed "Let's get this over with" he snatched up the envelope and tore it open in one swift move.
~~~
Inko was pacing the hallway outside her son's bedroom restlessly when she heard the front door slam open. She turned with a start to see a flustered Katsuki skidding around the corner.
"DEKU!! DID YOU GET YOUR LETT- oh. Hey Auntie" he greeted, slightly winded. He held up a familiar envelope "The U.A letters came in. Did he-"
"He got one" Inko reassured, turning her attention to the blonde fidgeting in her hallway and leading him to the living room "He's reading it right now. Would you like some tea Katsuki-kun?"
"No thanks Auntie" he dismissed politely, sitting down next to her on the couch
"You got your letter too?" Inko questioned, eager for a distraction
"Yeah" Bakugo responded absently, still glancing down the hallway at his friend's room
"Did you get in?" She asked, almost jokingly as she could already guess the answer. He turned to her with a 'who-do-you-think-I-am' look on his face
"Of course I did" he scoffed
"How nice. I'm sure your mother was very proud" Inko smiled. She could practically imagine Mitsuki's prideful crows ringing through the house. Katsuki puffed up with a pleased grin.
