I hated this.
I didn't want to be here. I didn't want group counseling.
I just want to crawl in a hole and die.
I sat in the room shuffling from side to side until the door opened and he walked in.
Seriously out of all people.
Why was Carson walking in here?
He doesn't seem to notice me as he struts like the popular basketball player.
He was handsome and smart. He had friends and was outgoing. So why was he taking a seat in this circle?
Maybe this is how he planned to get his community service.
No sooner did the thought cross my head did he look at me.
"Mika?" He says slightly surprised and I want to sink into the floor.
"Carson," I say and he instantly moves to sit next to me.
"So what did you fail your mental exam too," I ask and he smiles.
"No. But what did you score?" He asks and I look away.
"Solid 47 out of 50," I say and he only laughs.
"I lied got 10 out of 50 and still got sent here." He says.
"Do you mark strongly disagree to everything?" I ask and he smiles.
"Maybe it was obvious." He said and I smiled as more kids filtered in.
I instantly felt my morale change when Damien walked in and instantly makes a b-line to me.
"Fancy meeting you here?" I say and he smiles.
"Solid 50 out of 50. I got a message halfway through like. 'Only mark the ones that apply to you' and I almost cried." He jokes and I smile.
Happy I wasn't alone.
"New friend?" Damien asked turning to Carson who still sat next to me and Carson smiles.
"We're all friends on this mentally unwell bandwagon." He says and Damien smiles.
When the crisis consular walks in she greeted us all like we were mentally broken before looking through her papers.
"Carson, Mika, and Damien. You guys are our Red team." She says and I look at the two.
"Looks like we're partners," Carson says.
"Fuck red team again," Damien says and I turn to him.
"What does the red team mean?" I ask and he sighs.
"Basically we're the most at risk, we're gonna be hella monitored because we're the suicide rink kids." He says and I sigh.
"Wait. Carson. How is your ten in the red team." I ask and he turns away.
"Uh." He stutters and I realize that maybe he just doesn't want to talk about it.
"And Damien. You got 50 out of 50 why are you surprised." I ask and he laughs.
I look back to Carson who had by now sunk into his seat.
I study him and he offers me a smile.
Carson didn't show any signs of being a suicide risk. Or at least he didn't make it obvious.
"But it's weird. We don't usually have these evaluations unless someone. You know, comments toaster bath." Damien says and I turn to him.
"Maybe they're just doing it yearly now?" I ask and he shrugs.
