a month later...

I tossed and turned in bed as I tried to get a comfortable position so that I could sleep. Something didn't feel right, but I didn't know what it was, and it's making me anxious.

"Is everything okay baby?" Dalton asked.

"I-I don't know, something just doesn't feel right, but I don't know what it is."

"Awe, baby, what can I do to make you feel better?" he asked.

"Can you please give me a back massage? My back feels really sore."

"Okay, baby," he smiled. I positioned myself so that my back was facing him. He then started massaging my back.

"You like that babe?"

"Mhm."

"Baby, she's kicking," I smiled as I felt my baby moving. I faced Dalton and he placed his hand on my stomach, feeling the kicks. Just then, I felt a painful kick on my ribs.

"Ow," I said quietly.

"Are you okay babe?" he asked.

"She's kicking on my ribs."

"Hi little one," he said to my stomach, "I know you love moving around, but you're hurting your mommy. If you're being more gentle I'm sure she would appreciate that."

Right after he said that, the kicks became gentler, relieving the pain on my ribs.

"It works," I smiled.

"Thanks, little one, Daddy loves you," he pressed his lips onto my stomach.

"You too, Mommy," he kissed my lips. I snuggled closer to him and he held me in his arms. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. Just then, I felt a slight tightness on my stomach. It's probably one of those false contractions. I had a lot of them the past few weeks, and the doctor told me that it's normal, especially now that I'm 35 weeks along. I changed my position and the tightness slowly faded away.

"Baby, I need to go to the bathroom," I said to Dalton. He nodded and unwrapped his arm from my body and I walked to the bathroom. I did my business and stood back up.

Just as I was about to leave the bathroom, I felt a sharp pain on my stomach, making me fall down on the bathroom floor, clutching onto my stomach. I felt something warm flowing out of me, soon followed by a wetness underneath me. I got scared. Was it blood like what happened a few months ago? I moved a little and looked at the floor. There were just some clear fluid. I breathed out in relief. Wait, clear fluid? Shit, my water just broke. I'm five weeks early. I started to panic.

"D-Dalton," I called out. In a matter of seconds, he came rushing to the bathroom. Looking at my current state, worry plastered on his face.

"W-what happened? A-are you okay?"

"M-my water b-broke. The b-baby's coming," I managed to say as I moaned in pain.

"Let's go to the hospital," he said, trying to stay calm. He gently picked me up and placed me on the bed. He gave me a towel to put in between my legs to prevent any bigger mess. He quickly packed the hospital bag. We weren't even prepared, because we didn't expect the baby to come this early. He zipped up the bag and carried me to the car. He helped me to buckle up the seatbelt and got in the car. He started the car, driving to the hospital. Just then, I felt another contraction. I moaned in pain and my fingers started digging into the seat.

"I-it hurts so m-much," I moaned.

"Hold on babe, we're close."

After a few seconds, the pain slowly diminished. Dalton drove faster, and after a few minutes, we arrived at the hospital. He parked the car and got out before picking me up and carrying me inside. Thank goodness there were no paparazzi, because it's in the middle of the night.

"Help, my fiancée is in labor, she's only 35 weeks along," Dalton said to a nurse at the front table. The nurse nodded and took out a wheelchair. Dalton placed me on the wheelchair and I was taken to a private room at the maternity ward. I was then asked to change into a gown and lied down on the bed. Soon, a middle-aged woman who I believed to be a midwife came into the room.

"Hi, I'm Laura, I'm your midwife and I'll be helping you out today," she introduced herself.

"To start, how far apart are your contractions?" she asked.

"About 10 minutes apart."

"How long does each of them last?"

"Around 30 seconds."

"Okay, now please put your legs apart and heels on the stirrups, I'll check your dilation," she said. I did as she instructed.

"You're two centimeters dilated, you need to be at 10 in order to start pushing," she explained.

"Will she and the baby be okay?" Dalton asked, concerned, "She isn't due for another five weeks."

"They're going to be alright," she reassured, "at this age, a baby's vital organs are already developed enough to survive outside the womb."

"O-okay."

"Excuse me for a while," she said before leaving the room, "I'll come back in a few hours to monitor."

Just then, I felt another contraction. I squeezed Dalton's hand and squirmed around on the bed as tears streamed down my face.

"I-it hurts so m-much," I cried. The pain was getting worse from one contraction to the other. After a few seconds, the pain slowly faded away.

"Baby, we haven't told our parents," I said.

"You're right, I'll call them now," he said before calling each one of them.

"They're on their way. Your dad will be here around the morning, because he's in Florida and needs to book a flight," he said. I nodded.

"I'm so sorry baby," Dalton said.

"For what?"

"For getting you pregnant but not being able to take your pain away."

"Baby, don't blame yourself," I said, softly touching his face, "I've always wanted to have kids with you, so it's just a matter of time."

"I love you so much," he smiled.

"I love you too," I smiled. I attached my lips onto his and we shared a sweet kiss. Soon, my mom and Dalton's parents along with Frankie, Hale, and Tori arrived.

"Mommy, it hurts so much," I cried.

"Shh, you're going to be okay, Bellissima, I'm here," she cooed, "Just listen to the midwife, she knows what's best."

I nodded, but deep inside, I was still horrified by the fact that a human was making its way out of my vagina. It's gonna be a long night.
