three weeks later...

"I'm going to induce you by breaking your water," my midwife, Laura said. I've reached the 39th week of my pregnancy, and I still hadn't gone into labor, so my midwife decided to induce me, because I'm carrying a big baby while I'm tiny, so here I am in a hospital room to be induced.

"Are you ready?" she asked and I nodded. I spread my legs apart and placed my heels on the stirrups. Dalton held my hand and Laura used a tool to break my water. I felt a little pop and gush of warm fluid.

"You're going to start having contractions within 24 hours, I'll come back in a few hours to check on you," she said and I nodded. She then excused herself.

"I'm scared," I breathed out.

"I'll be by your side baby," Dalton smiled, gently rubbing my hand with his thumb. I gave him a tiny smile.

"Mommy, is the baby coming soon?" Imogen asked.

"Yeah, most probably tomorrow," I answered.

"I can't wait to see the baby!" she beamed and I smiled. She decided that she wanted to stay here the whole labor and delivery because she wanted to see her baby brother being born. We had warned her that there's gonna be a lot of screaming, crying, and cursing, but she decided to stay because she didn't want to miss the moment.

"Mommy, the baby's gonna come out of you down there?" she asked and I nodded. Her eyes went wide.

"That's scary," she said.

"I know, but it's going to be worth it," I smiled.

"Fuck!" I groaned as I felt a sharp pain on my stomach. The contractions must've started, since it's been around 10 hours since I got induced.

"Want me to call Laura for you?" Dalton asked and I nodded. He left the room and soon came back with Laura. She checked for any signs of labor.

"You've officially started labor," she said, "you're three centimeters dilated."

"Labor is going to be a lot faster this time since it's your second time giving birth," she added and I nodded. She then excused herself. It's now 8 pm, and Imogen had fallen asleep about an hour ago.

"Baby, I think it's time to call our parents," I said to Dalton and he nodded. He took out his phone and called my mom, followed by my dad, Nonna, Frankie, and finally his parents.

"Everyone's on the way, your dad and Nonna are flying from Florida," he told me. I gave him a nod.

"How is this big baby gonna come out of me?" I groaned. I had been in labor for four hours now. It's midnight and I couldn't sleep because of these contractions.

"You'll pull through baby, I promise," Dalton smiled, rubbing my hand with his thumb.

"Dalton's right, Bellissima, women's bodies are amazing," my mom reassured.

"Ow!" I groaned, squeezing Dalton's hand as I felt another contraction. He moved my hair away from my face and kissed my head. After a few seconds, the pain slowly diminished. Soon, Laura came back to check on my progress.

"You're at five centimeters, would you like to get an epidural?" she asked.

"Yes please," I groaned. I didn't get an epidural when I gave birth to Imogen because I had no trouble falling asleep. This time, I couldn't sleep at all. If I didn't get any sleep, I wouldn't have enough energy to push.

"Alright, I'll just get an anesthesiologist to help you with the epidural," she said before leaving the room. She then came back with an anesthesiologist a few minutes later.

"Alright, please sit down or lay down on your side," the anesthesiologist said. I turned over to my side and she started doing her work. I felt a little pinch on my lower back.

"It's gonna take around 10 minutes for it to start working. If you need more relief, you can press on the button on this pump," she said, showing me a pump on the side of my bed. I thanked her and she excused herself.

10 minutes passed, and I finally felt a sense of relief. I could still feel some pain, but at least it wasn't that bad anymore. I tried to get into a comfortable position and drifted off to sleep.

the next day...

"Alright, you're fully dilated," Laura said, "same process, I need you to push whenever you feel a contraction. Take a deep breath if you have to and keep pushing until the contractions end. Do you understand?"

I nodded. It's finally time to push after being in labor for 12 hours. It's now eight in the morning. Only the dad and two others were allowed to stay in the room, so my mom, Dalton, and Imogen were the ones staying. We had warned her that there's gonna be a lot of screaming, but she decided to stay.

Soon, I felt a contraction. I squeezed Dalton's hand and pushed. It was harder to push this time, because the epidural numbed up my bottom half. The contractions stopped and I tried to control my breaths. I felt the contractions starting again. I started pushing again and moaned in pain as tears started to stream down my face. The contractions started to diminish and I panted.

"It hurts," I moaned, trying not to cry. My mom ran her fingers through my hair, trying to comfort me. Just then, Imogen started to cry.

"What's wrong Piccolina?" I managed to ask her in between my breaths.

"Mommy's hurt," she frowned.

"I'll be okay," I reassured, caressing her cheek, "just remember that you'll get to meet your little brother soon."

"Okay Mommy," she said quietly.

an hour later...

"Just one last push," Laura said. I pushed with everything I had left in me and soon, the cries of our baby boy were heard. He was placed on my chest and I kissed his head. He was indeed a big baby.

"Hi little man," I managed to say. I was overflown with emotions.

"I love you so much, I promise I'll be a good mother for you," I whispered. This is definitely the start of another chapter of my life.
