"Hold the elevator!" I heard a quaint voice call out.
My hand instantly shot out to postpone the doors from closing. A few seconds later, a gorgeous blonde came rushing in. She had spectacular hazel eyes and her hair was perfectly curled. I've never seen a woman so stunning before. Her outfit was casual but matched her beauty. When I caught sight at her shoes, I almost died. They were studded Jimmy Choo Uggs. The boots matched her light washed jeans and cream knit poncho perfectly.
"Is there something on my shoe dear?"
I could feel my face heat up immensely. "No ma'am, I was just admiring them. Well you entirely. You're gorgeous." I think I may have a girl crush on this woman who didn't look a day over forty.
She held her hand over her heart, "you just made my day sweetie. And my eccentric daughters picked them out for me as a 'hip' Mother's Day present," she chuckled.
I smiled. "Are you an editor for the magazine?"
"No sweetheart, I'm here visiting my son."
"Really!" My eyebrows shot up excitedly. "I mean, um... Really?" I really should work on hiding my creepy excitement. She probably wouldn't want me any where near her son. He probably looked like a Greek God, and was too good for the creepy intern she got stuck with in the elevator.
The bell ticked signaling we had reached our floor. "Yes. He's been working here for a cou-"
"Mom?" A deep, husky voice asked. I could recognize it from anywhere. "Kerri?"
My head shot over to look at Spencer.
"Sweetheart, this is my son I was telling you about," Spencer's mom grinned. My eyes were wide in shock. Did I just unintentionally meet his mother? His exquisitely put together mother?
"Spencer," his name fell from my lips.
"Yes... You two know each other?"
Oh did we know each other...
"Um Mom," Spencer cleared his throat. "This is Kerri. Kerri this is my mom, Zippora."
"Hi Mrs. Bandera," I shyly reached out to shake her hand. Knowing she was Spencer's mother put me in a different state of mind. This is the guy I like's mother for crying out loud! I have to make a good impression.
Zippora pulled me in for a hug. "Oh sweetie you're practically family! I feel like I know you so well!" I looked over at Spencer for help.
"The girls rave about you to my family."
Zippora quickly pulled away. "Yes they do. Sorry for not explaining that tid bit. You probably think I'm some weird mother."
"Not at all," I laugh and give her a quick hug.
Spencer tugged me over to him and casually wrapped an arm around my waist.
"What are you doing here Mom?"
She held up a bag that I hadn't noticed previously. "I wanted to drop off some lunch. You know part of my job as a mother is to make sure all my children are well fed," she reached over to pinch his cheek. I bit my lip to hold in my amused laughter.
"Mom," he whined like a little boy. A slight blush was emerging.
"Aren't you a cutie pie," I teased. "It was really nice meeting you," Zippora gave me one last hug before I walked away ti begin my work day.

"Great catch," Mom punched me on the shoulder.
"Thanks," I rubbed my shoulder.
"Both of my boys have found their mates!" Her eyes began to water.
"I'm not one hundred percent sure she's my mate."
Mom glared at me, "of course she's your mate. You two look perfect together. Oh this is splendid! Laurie and Sean can get married now!"
My mother was the spitting image of a happy mother. She looked so excited as she searched through her bag for Laur and Sean's wedding planner's business card.
A while ago, Sean said that he didn't want to have his wedding until I had found my mate. Now I'm not sure if Kerri is my mate or not, I hope she is, but my mom has obviously latched on yo the idea that her oldest son can tie the know with his longtime fiancée.
"You should have her over for dinner Spencer. I'm sure your father would love to meet your mate."
"Mom, I don't want to overwhelm her."
"It's just dinner," she rolled her eyes at me. She became very quiet and her eyes narrowed. "Are you ashamed of us?"
"Of course not!"
"Why don't you want to have her over for dinner then?" Her lip trembled. I couldn't stand to see any of my girls cry. I was a big softie when it came to them.
"Mama, you know I love you. I'll have her over as soon as possible," I gave her a big hug and kissed her cheek.
"I need to plan what we'll eat," she murmured to herself. "Ask her right away so I know when to have everything set up. Can you do that for me Spency?"
"Of course Mom," she smiled happily at me and patted my cheek.
"Good boy. Now get back to work, we can't have you losing your job."
"Alright. See ya later Ma," with one last hug I walked back to my cubicle with my lunch in hand.
