After calming down she stood from her chair and went over to the sofa. Her father still laid there out cold. Good. That would make leaving easier.
She went up the stairs to her room and quickly hopped into the shower, wanting to get the smell of that casino off her myself but finally enough, when she picked up her clothes off the bathroom floor all she smelled was the cologne that Dice had been wearing.
As she stood there drip drying she sniffed her coat and smiled. Such a pleasing smell. It smelled expensive. She wondered what it was.
Shaking her head she toweled off and went to her room, pulling on a new dress and clean undies before pulling her long black hair up into a smooth braid behind her head.
She slipped on her shoes and grabbed the four little coins before heading down the stairs and kissing her father's forehead on her way out the door, pulling her coat tight around her and putting her cane to the ground as the cold wind blew over her, sending a chill down her spine.
It took her about three hours to cross the isles on foot to make it to the casino again but that was fine. She was used to walking wherever she needed to go so it didn't bother her. Only the cold bothered her but after a while she grew accustomed to it.
She climbed the stairs as she did the night before and slipped into the casino. It was a little quieter, having just opened and not nearly in full swing yet so she didn't feel quite as overwhelmed or crowded.
She stepped forward, able to use her cane this time due to the crowd being thin as she attempted to find Mr. Dice or at the very least the craps tables. She listened for the sound of rolling dive and managed to find a room where it sounded like that was all that was there.
As if on cue she felt a warm fimiliar hand take her shoulder and that warm smooth voice speak. "Well hello darlin. I'm glad you showed up. Welcome back." Dice said kindly.
She blushed and 'looked' up towards him, "Oh! Mr. Dice! Thank you." She said, folding up her cane and tucking it away in her pocket.
"Neat little dodad you've got there." Dice mused.
She chuckled. "It keeps me from bumping into things or falling... I should have been using it last night but I'm glad I wasn't. If I had I wouldn't have met you." She said brightly and his heart soared. She was happy she met him. He was happy to have met her!
"I'm glad as well my dear. I'd be remissed to have missed the opportunity to meet such a lovely young woman as yourself." He said, taking her hand again and kissing the knuckles, making her cheeks flush a deep wine red color which made dice smile widely. She was too cute.
"Shall we play some games?" He asked, gesturing to the tables around them and she nodded hesitantly.
He placed her hand on his arm and lead the girl up to a table where a someone with a deep Irish accent spoke, "who wants to roll the dice? Try your luck? Take your chances?" The man said loudly as the sound of something clacking together radiated from the man as well.
Dice smiled tightly as he looked at his employee, a living skelleton horse, "morning Phear." He said.
"Morning boss. Who is the little lass?" Phear asked, his voice a little softer than before.
"This is Ms. Grace. She's here to play." He said, smiling down at Grace.
"Nice to meet you Mr." She said, holding out a hand for the man to shake and Phear smirked and shook it, making her shiver a little as she felt his bony hoof.
"It's a pleasure Ms. Grace. What are you betting?" He asked.
She let go of dice's arm and pulled three coins out of her pocket, making sure to save one and she handed it to Phear who in turn handed her a pair of red and white dice. She turned them over in her hands, feeling the little divitson it's sides and she swallowed nervously.
Dice chuckled and placed a hand over hers, "if you roll a seven you win, if you roll snake eyes you lose and anything else you reroll once." He explained. "Just give them a toss and we shall see what you get."
She took a deep breath and gently tossed them on the table. She listened to the little cubes bounce around for a moment before Phear spoke. "Seven. Congrats miss. Do you wanna play again?" He asked
She covered her mouth, a little shocked that she won and she moved to cling to dices arm. "Yes... yes I'd like to go again." She said, trying to contain her excitement.
Phear handed her the dice and she rolled again. "Seven again miss."
She let out a bark of a laugh and beamed. She was actually winning. She now 13 gold and that was more than she had had to her name in a while. This was actually kind of fun. She didn't understand how it could become addictive but she could see it being casual fun every so often.
She played again and again, seeming to be on a streak. Winning over and over. Dice laughing and encouring her by her side, his arm around her shoulders at first before eventually his hand drifted down to her hip. She didn't mind.
It wasn't long before she was nearly to her goal, just one more roll and she would have the house payment and be able to buy groceries for the next week!
She was just about to roll when she felt dices grip on her hip tighten and she paused, looking towards him. "Mr. Dice?" She asked, sensing his weight shift uncomfortably next to her.
"We should get you out of here." He said tightly.
"What? Why? I almost have all I need." She said, confused by why he suddenly wanted to leave.
She heard heavy footsteps approaching their table and she noticed that was where dice had turned towards. He seemed to move to stand before her protectivly, "boss! What can I do for you?"
"You can tell me who your delicious little friend here is." Said a dark demonic voice that sent a chill down her spine. The red from her dream...
