The sound of the dice bouncing across the velvet covered table stopped and there was silence, pure stillness as the whole casino seemed to hold its breath before Phear let out a sighed, shaking his head, his bones rattling together as he broke the stillness. "Snake eyes. House wins." He said, disappointed.
A pit formed in grace's stomach as she let that sink in. Snake eyes. She lost. She lost the bet. And now the devil himself could do whatever he pleased with her.
She felt a cold hand wrap around her arm and the devil pulled her from under dice's protective arm and she gasped, struggling to wriggle free as the devil pulled her close to him, she could smell him now, his strong cigar smoke and whiskey scent filled her nose, giving her a bit of a dizzy feeling.
The monster that pulled her close to him by her thin little arm and waist chuckled, "seems I've won my dear. Now don't you worry. You can keep the money you've earned... but I do get to do what I want with you." He said, growling in her ear which brought a bright red blush to her cheek and she wriggle in his grasp.
"What are you going to do with me?" She asked, fear dripping into her voice.
"I'm not entirely sure... Dice what do you think? Should I make her my slave? Make her a mindless little toy?"
"No! Sir please! Don't hurt her!" Dice said before he could restrain himself, before he could think of a clever way to get her out of the devils arms.
The devil smirked down at him with a quirked eyebrow. "Oh? Don't hurt her you say? You seem awfully fond of this little mortal dice. I wonder why that is?" He turned Grace in his arms to face dice and held her body back against his own, running his flawed hand up and down her slender form to taunt dice. "Is it because she's a helpless little bird with a broken wing to mend dice? You have such a savior complex it's laughable. "
Gracie whimpered as she felt the cold hand of the devil on her body and she could even feel dice staring at her which was even worse. She wished she had never come there. She wanted to go home, to her father.
"Please sit just... just don't hurt her." Dice said, defeated. The Devil was right. Dice had a bit of a savior complex and that was why he wanted to help this girl...that and...He just enjoyed her. There was an energy around her that radiated peace and in his life that was such a rare thing he wanted to cling to it.
"Well if you don't want me to hurt her I could hurt you instead dice... I could cash in your soul, can't have a soft manager now can i?" The devil snarled and grace felt her breathing hitch.
"No! No your deal was with me! Leave Mr. Dice alone! Do what you want to me but leave him alone!" She said, struggling harder, trying desperately to get the devils attention back on her and of Dice. Dice didn't deserve to be punished for trying to help her. That wasn't fair! He was far too kind for such a thing.
The devil paused, looking down at the struggling girl in his arms and slowly he began to laugh. Releasing her and letting her fall fordward, dice moving forward with the speed of a demon to catch her before she hit the ground and he pulled her protectivly to his chest as he looked up at his boss. Why was Satan laughing like he had just lost his mind?
The demon slowly stopped his maniacal laughter and his gaze fell on the trembling girl and his glaring manger, the girl holding the fabric of dice's shirt as she turned her face to the side, listening intently to what was going on around her since she couldn't see and dice had his arms around her, holding her tightly to his chest, a hand behind her head, shielding her.
"I think I know just what I want to do. I think it'll make for some grand entertainment." The Devil said, lifting his hands and the lights in the room went black, leaving everyone in a void of darkness as the sounds of damned souls screaming in agony filled the air, his hands began to glow a menacing red and the same glow appeared over both dice and Grace's left eyes and suddenly the two of them sank to their knees in pain, Grace screaming in agony and covering her left eye as she bowed down, her face against dice's lap and dice simply groaned and grunted. This pain was fimiliar to him. He had felt it before but the question was what was the devil doing?
The pain slowly began to fade and the glowing stopped and the lights all came back on, the devil lowered his hands and folded his arms, smirking evilly to himself as he watched the two slowly relax from the pain.
Dice panted softly and he opened his eyes, moving his hand from where it had been moving the left one and he realized he couldn't see anything out of it. Open, closed, squinted... There was just nothing. He was blind in his left eye. He turned his halved gaze down on grace who cried softly against his lap, trembling in fear that if she moved the pain would return. He reached down and slowly moved her to sit up on her knees, "it's ok. Its over. I'm here." He whispered, hoping to calm her down a little and ahe nodded, still holding her left eye and now taking deep breaths to calm herself.
He gently took her hands and pulled them down from her face, "let me see. Let me look at what he did..." He whispered again and she slowly opened her eyes, and there in place of her old milky blue eye was his bright lavender eye... Dice now knew what Satan had done...(Just wanted to say this chapter would have been out yesterday but wattpad glitched and decided that when I saved it to my drafts when it was nearly done and I was taking a break that it was only gonna save the first 100 words or so so I put off rewriting it till this morning. )
