One by one each demon gave a report on souls taken or disasters caused or mischief made towards mortals. It was rather long winded and boring in all honesty and Grace didn't particularly like looking at these demons. She was actually beginning to have a reference to what would be considered ugly now and she didn't like it.
After almost two hours of sitting on that pillow and listening to these reports with an equally bored devil she began to doze off to sleep, eventually leaning against the devils hand as it stroked her hair, gently soothing her into a deeper sleep.
Satan noticed her soft little snores as she leaned against his hand and he gently moved her to lay down, still keeping her in his hand, feeling her chest rise and fall under his thumb. She was actually pretty cute for a mortal. He might not mind keeping her around for more than messing with Dice as punishment for his insolence.A few more hours went by and the devil picked grace up in his arms as he shrank back down to his usual size when the meeting ended and she curled against him, weaving her fingers into his fur as she slept.
He smiled softly as he carried her out of hell and back into his office in the casino where he laid her down on one of the comfy sofas and gave her a little shake to wake her.
She moaned in her sleep and her eyes fluttered open and looked directly into his. She sat straight up with a gasp and her cheeks turned red as she realized she had fallen asleep.
"Easy now. You're alright." Satan said, brushing some hair from her face.
"I fell asleep. I'm sorry." Grace said quickly.
He chuckled. "Don't be. I would have too had I been able. Besides you still did your job. Nothing cuter than a sleeping hottie in the hand of the devil."
She swallowed hard, getting rid of the lump that had formed in her throat. "Oh... Well good." She said, relief filling her voice.
"Now then. You're free to go on home or where ever else for the day... Oh what reward would you like today?" He made his way over to his desk and sat down behind it and started filling out papers, not really paying much attention to her anymore.
She stood before she spoke and hugged herself, "can you... can you make my father's gambling addiction go away?" Shes asked.
"I can do anything. Even far more than your mortal mind can comprehend. Is that what you want as payment today?" His tone of voice was bored by her simple request but was willing to give it to her.
She nodded. "Yes. That's what I want."
The devil nodded and lifted his hand, snapping his fingers and before her floated a little velvet bag. She reached out and took it, confused by it.
"What's this?" She asked.
"Tea. Have him drink it and it will remove all desire to gamble from his mind. I do recommend adding honey. It's a rather bitter tea." He explained.
She clutched the bag tight and smiled. "Thank you. Thank you so much." She said softly.
He nodded. "Yes yes. Head on home now. I'll see you tomorrow. I'll have dice fetch you. Don't forget to look pretty." He said, waving his hand at her, gesturing for her to leave.
"Yes sir." She said quickly before heading off to find King Dice.
She couldn't wait to show him the tea. Her father was going to be cured and then they could work on building up their lives again!
She made her way out onto the main floor and looked around, easily spotting the tall man in the purple suit before happily making her way over. She cleared her throat as she stood behind him to get his attention and he quickly turned around, his face changing from the serious manager of the devil's casino to that of her friend with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes.
"Grace! You're alright!" He said, quickly scooping her up into his arms.
She laughed brightly and nodded. "Yes I'm fine. I hope you weren't too worried."
"Only a little. I know you can handle yourself." He assured, still holding her. "What did he have you do?"
"Just sit on a pillow while he was in a meeting down in hell." She said with a shrug.
"He took you to hell? That's so dangerous..."
"I was fine. No one tried to hurt me at all. I even fell asleep."
"You fell asleep in hell...surrounded by demons and the devil himself..."
"Yes?" She said, tilting her head.
"Grace you're either crazy or fearless." He said, turning to carry her out of the casino.
She giggled. "Maybe a little both?" She mused.
"Definatly." He said as they slipped through the door. "Now let's get you home."
She nodded and moved to slip her arms around his neck and rest her head on his shoulder, unbothered by his gentle hold on her.
