After pulling on her dress Grace moved to the mirror on her dresser, inspecting herself for the first time. It was such an odd thing for her, she wasn't even entirely sure what she was looking for, if anything. She most certainly looked like her mother and a little like her dad as well from what she could tell but she didn't know what a flaw was to even begin yo fix it if it was there so she simply smiled at herself as she pulled her hair up into it s usual braid. At least she thought she looked nice, and dice had said she was beautiful so...that must mean it was true. After all, dice was beautiful so he would know.
She heard a knock come from the front door and ahe glanced off towards the sound, wondering who that could be before making her way down the stairs, making sure her father wasn't near so she could have her eyes open.
She opened the door and a smile grew on her face as she looked up at King Dice.
"Dice! Goodmorning!" She said, quickly moving to hug him.
He let out a throaty laugh and slipped his arms over her shoulders, his hand rubbing her back in small circles as she pressed her ear to his chest, hearing his strong heart flutter.
"Goodmorning to you as well darlin. Did you sleep well?" He asked.
She pulled back and smiled up at him, nodding. "I did. Thank you!"
He smiled at her in pure adoration. She was such a bright spot for someone who had lived in the dark her entire life. He could stare at her smile for hours and be content.
"Come on in. Make yourself comfortable." She said, taking his hand and bringing him inside.
He happily followed as she lead him into the kitchen.
"Thank you dear. Where's your father this morning?"
"I think he's sleeping in. He was up late last night catching up on paperwork for his job." She said as she made her way to the stove and he sat at the table to watch as she put a pot of water on the flames to boil.
"Would you like some tea?" She asked, glancing over her shoulder.
He nodded, "that would be very nice." He said, greatful that he didn't have to worry about her father coming in if he was asleep.
She moved to bring out two mugs and went about making the tea before bringin it over and sitting in front of him across the table. "I hope you like lavender tea. I grow it myself in the back yard."
"You garden?" He asked, before taking a sip and sighing. It was really good tea. Very fresh tasting.
She nodded, "I sell bundles of it to help my father out." She explained.
"That's very kind of you. You must be an amazing gardener. This is the best tea I've had in a long while." He said, reaching to take her hand that rested on the table.
"Thank you. And Dice thank you so much for all your help. You truly are a wonderful friend." She said, squeezing his hand and blushing lightly, avoiding his gaze.
His heart began to hammer in his chest and he brought her hand to his lips, kissing her knuckle lightly. "Believe me my dear it is my absolute pleasure to be your friend. I've never had a friend like you."
She smiled softly down at her tea, enjoying the feeling of his hand in hers and his lips on her skin, it sent her heart all into a flutter.
"You're too kind." She whispered.
There was a little moment of silence, quiet content silence as the too just sat there, blushing, hand in hand and enjoying eachother and the warm feeling they gave eachother.
She eventually broke the silence and looked up at him, "so what exactly brings you by this morning. Surely you're busy with the casino."
He blinked, brought out of the trance she had him in before he chuckled nervously and leaned back, rubbing his neck, "Oh! Well you see.... the devil has asked me to bring you back to the casino...He wants to speak with you."
She frowned at the thought of going back to that place, especially to speak with that beast. "Me? But why? Hasn't he done enough?"
Dice sighed, "I know... I know. I'm sorry. It's not up to me. If it were I'd never even entertain the idea but... He ordered it of me. I can't refuse." He explained and she sighed.
"Well... I don't wanna get you in trouble... so as long as you're with me I'll go." She said, giving him a small nervous smile.
He smiled back sympathetically. "I'll be there. Don't worry. I won't let any harm befall you my dear."
She closed her eyes and nodded, relaxed a bit by his words.
"Will you write a note for my father and tell him ive gone out with you?"
"Of course." He said, pulling a small note pad and pen from his lapel and writing a quick note before taking her hand once more and leading her out of the house. This was gonna be fun..
