Chapter XVII

Hiccup's pov

I walked Astrid back to her hut and it was pretty late, she asked me to put my arm around her, so I did. Then I thought about Y/n and that guy, it made me jealous.
"Astrid?" I ask.
"Yeah?" She asks.
"Do you want to be my girlfriend?" I ask unsure of what I'm doing,
"Yes! Finally I knew you'd fall for me!" She yells and hugs me.
"Astrid, I'm going to be honest with you-" I say pulling her away from me,
"Um okay-" She paused.
"I'm only doing this for the people and there future." I say seriously.
"Ugh, you'll love me just you see." She says unlocking her door to her hut,
"I dont think so." I say.
"Whatever, I had a really fun time." She says.
"Me too." I lie.
She started to lean in for a kiss but I move my face last minute and she kissed my cheek. Astrid pulled away from me and looked mad,
"Goodnight." She says then closes the door.
Honestly I don't care if she's mad, when Y/n kisses my cheek I turn red. With Astrid I get weirded out. I walked into the forest then ended up at the edge of Berk. At a cliff, I could see the moonlight shine on the ocean. Y/n always looks beautiful in the moonlight. Then I sat down and thought about her even more again.

Y/n pov

Six o'clock came and its time to go back to the market to, before I left my hut. I saw Hiccup and Astrid walking by holding hands. Are they on a date? I can't believe this, he hates her- I think. I couldn't get it out my mind. But after the coast was clear I went to the market, the same spot where I met Asher.
"Hey Y/n." He smiles coming up to me with a dragon behind him,
"Hey Asher, I love your dragon, he's a snow wraith." I smile back.
"Wow you sure must know a lot about dragons." He says petting him,
"Um yeah I've studied them for a while, what's his name?" I ask.
"This is Fang." He smiles.
"Can I put him?" I ask.
"Of course." He says stepping aside.
I pet him gently, he has chilly skin.
Then Fang picked me up with his neck so I could sit on his back,
"He likes you, you must be loved by all dragons." Asher says.
"I guess you could say that." I giggle.
"I don't know what it is, Fang has never acted like this before with anyone." He chuckles.
After more small talk,
"You ready?" Asher asks.
"For what?" I giggle.
"You'll see-" Asher says hopping on Fang in front of me,
I wrapped my arms around his waist and Fang started to sour up into the sky. We flew around Berk, honestly it was not as fun as when Hiccup took me with Toothless. I felt guilty riding with another guy instead of Hiccup. Riding with Asher was fun though.

Hiccup's pov

Toothless and Luna found me again at the edge of berk where I sat down alone,
"Hey guys." I say trying to smile.
They both looked at each other then at me, and they cuddled up next to me on the floor,
"I just had the worst first date ever." I sigh while petting them,
"I asked Astrid to be my girlfriend, and my dad didn't even really tell me too. I'm stupid, I did it because I saw Y/n with another guy." I groan.
"Not once did I ever find another woman attractive that wasn't Y/n." I say.
"Right now I hate how everything is working, I always thought when Y/n came back- that I'd tell her my feelings and make her my wife one day-" I sigh.
"But nothing is working out that way, I have to marry someone I don't love or even care about. Then I'm losing Y/n in the process-"
"Even if she doesn't want to be with me, I wouldn't care- as long as she's in my life." I say.
Toothless and Luna looked up,
So did I, a dragon with Y/n and some guy on it. Thats the guy from the market. She's riding with him now?!
My heart felt like it shattered, we've moved on from each other I suppose. What they say is true, you grow up from your best friends. Before I could stand up Toothless picked me up and started to fly, like he was forcing me to leave. Luna followed us walking, she looked disappointed for me.

Y/n pov

Asher flew me around for a while then dropped me off in front of Heathers hut,
"I had a lot of fun today." Asher smiles.
"I did too Asher." I lie.
"I know we just met this morning- but I've been dying to kiss you." He says shyly.
"Oh really?" I ask leaning on the door.
"Yeah yeah I'm very shameful" He smiles.
I giggled and he got closer to me,
"Can I kiss you?" He whispers.
I got a little nervous, the first time Hans and I kissed, he asked to kiss me. Then he ended up kissing me roughly and trying to touch me. But Asher isn't him, nobody could ever compare to him. I've never been kissed by someone who actually liked me. I was hoping Hiccup would be my first kiss, but his first kiss won't be with me.
"Go for it." I fake smile.
As soon as I said that Asher grabbed my cheek, and he got even closer to my face. This is- different. I'm not scared to be touched by someone I barely know. Hiccup is different I know he won't hurt me, but this is a complete stranger to me. He could be a deadly viking murderer for all I know, but I'm trusting him right now. His lips gently touched mine, I didn't want to hold him back. But I let him give me a long kiss.
I faked smiled once he pulled away and he smiled too,
"Well I should go, my roomate is probably in there waiting for me." I say.
"Okay, see you around Y/n." He says grabbing my hand and kissing it,
"Goodbye Asher." I smile.
He got on Fang and flew away.

I went into the hut, and Heather was standing there like she was my mother catching me coming home late,
"And I thought I'd be home late." She giggles.
"Sorry I was out." I smile.
"With Asher huh?" She asks.
"How do you know him?" I ask.
"Well I seen him around that's all." She shrugs.
"Oh-" I say.
"I saw that little kiss you just had." She winks.
"How did you see?" I blush, embarrassing.
"The window." She laughs.
"You stalker." I giggle.
"Hm werid your in a better mood now, as long as your happy Y/n." She smiles.
"Y-Yeah, thank you." I smile back.
I dont feel happy, I didn't feel a connection with Asher when we kissed. It felt off, like it wasn't right. Ugh am I doomed of ever finding someone else?
