New Year had seemed like a hazy illusion, coming and going like a whisp. The days had all blurred together, confined to the four walls of the dorm and their balcony. The dorm, spacious as it was, seemed to swallow them whole. It's funny, the place they found relief in coming home to everyday, suddenly began to feel claustrophobic, squeezing them in.

All Wonshik had being able to remember was the loud buzzing of the countdown on the television, the warmth of the blanket and Taekwoon settled cozily by his side, a lazy but sincere New Year's kiss shared between them. As much as he felt content, being beside his lover and spending time with him, Wonshik could feel the anxious flutter in his bones, his skin feeling all too tight. This must be what caged birds feel like.

He woke up to the same sunlight streaming across the room, the covers now warm and cozy just as he expected them to be. Thankfully, the weather was kind to them all, the days filled with cool winds and sunshine in a perfect harmony. Some days, heavy rain knocked persistently on the windows. These days Wonshik enjoyed the most, the silent assurance that the sky was upset alongside them, making it a little less lonely.

He turned to face the source of his warmth, a warm body pressed to his chest, his arm lazily slung across the other's waist. Taekwoon was dozing peacefully, lips parted in a small snore. The time spent inside gave them a perfect opportunity to catch up on sleep and you better believe that they took full advantage of it.

Of course, there were still things to be done, such as preparing for individual activities and doing the necessary paperwork, but since majority of their work depends on practices and group work, they all have more than enough free time to spare.

Wonshik had plenty of time to appreciate his boyfriend, both of them taking their time with each other, which was previously something they couldn't do due to the packed schedule they had. But now, with all of it removed, mornings were much more mellow, spent with lazy cuddles and soft kisses, eyes heavy with the remaining residues of sleep clinging to their lashes. Then spending the day in comfortable chatter as they went about their daily routines, sneaking in loving words and surprise hugs in between often.

He shifted as he squeezed Taekwoon a little closer to him, watching him sleep soundly, unaware of Wonshik who was observing him. His roots had grown in the months after their last comeback, ebony hair now brushing against his lashes, the edges a little crisp because of multiple bleachings.

Wonshik smoothed back the fluffy hair strands, leaning forward to press a small kiss to the exposed forehead, resting his chin on the crown of his lover's head, letting the soothing silence slip over them like a thin blanket, the distant hum of the city an early morning birds a sweet lullaby.

"Wonshik-ah..." Taekwoon's sleep thickened voice came, burrowed under the warm blankets, muffled against Wonshik's neck. Said male hummed in response, chest rumbling like a content cat.

It was so late, but he was tempted to go back to sleep.

"Do you think we'll be okay?" The question made the room a little heavier, Taekwoon's voice so small, unsure wether what he said was right or wrong.

The silence that followed was a calm invitation to confidence, neither encouraging or stopping Taekwoon's thoughts.

"I'm just worried things won't be right again. Everyone's scared of each other an aren't taking things too well either. None of us have seen our family for so long, and I'm worried about Hakyeon too." He continued on, pressing his face to Wonshik's sleep shirt, spicy cinnamon and faint undertones of bitter chocolate filling his senses. The shirt was soft against his face, offering him some comfort as he let loose all the thoughts cramping his head.

"I just... don't know if we'll be okay..." Taekwoon finished off, his voice breaking off into a whisper, uncertainty woven between the syllables.

All was silent, Wonshik's eyes remaining closed as he processed the information, the only implication of him being awake were his fingers that were drawing circles into the small of Taekwoon's back.

The older let out a stuttering gasp as Wonshik suddenly shifted, arms gripping him more firmly as he hoisted Taekwoon to rest on his chest fully, no longer resting on their sides. One hand slipped under Taekwoon's night shirt to now remain reassuringly on direct skin, the other coming to rest at the back of Taekwoon's head, massaging his scalp.

No words were spoken, but Taekwoon knew from the way Wonshik pressed a silent kiss to the crown of his head, that they'll get through this.

They'll be okay.

I really missed this book for some reason. Every time I read through it, no matter how cringe worthy it was, it still makes me smile.
