"Careful, Honey..." Hakyeon warned softly, taking three year old Hongbin to his lap as the small boy mixed the dough in his little mixing bowl, a little bit spilling from the side.
Beside the tan skin male, Taekwoon was sitting quietly beside four year old Wonshik, watching the quiet kid draw shapes on the grease proof paper. The day was rather quiet since a majority of the kids were napping, Hongbin and Wonshik both awake because they woke up early. Hakyeon decided to have them help them make Gingerbread men for the Daycare Party they were having later on in the afternoon. It wasn't much chaos since both Hongbin and Wonshik were calm kids easy to take care of.
Hongbin was rather clingy to Hakyeon since the caregiver was rather like an elder brother than a teacher. Hakyeon grew accustomed to little hands and feet clambering their way to his lap. He didn't mind to be honest, it was too cute to deny. Hakyeon was a sucker for Hongbin's puppy eyes.
Wonshik was used to having Taekwoon beside him at all times. The kid usually went in search of him whenever he needed to ask something from the caregiver. The two were not as energetic as Hongbin and Hakyeon were, more willing to curl up in a warm bundle of blankets and pillows, Taekwoon reading a children's book to the child. They were rather a quiet duo and matched each other well.
"Wanna choose a cookie cutter?" Taekwoon gently asked the youger, Wonshik raising his head from his little drawing session to lock eyes with the ebony haired caregiver. He pursed his lips in an adorable pout before nodding, silently making grabby hands at the other.
Taekwoon settled beside Hakyeon, placing Wonshik on his lap. The older smiled warmly at the other, pinching Wonshik's cheeks affectionately in a silent greeting. Hongbin, who had finished playing around with the dough in the bowl with (thankfully) clean hands, held the small bowl to Hakyeon, doe eyes wide an adorable.
"Thank you, Kong. We'll cut out the gingerbread and put it to bake before making the icing, hm?" Hakyeon suggested, a little giggle coming from Hongbin as the child clapped his hands together in delight.
Hakyeon smiled fondly at the toddler before turning to grab a cookie cutter shaped as a man. He was surprised when he was handed a cookie cutter by Wonshik, Taekwoon smiling sheepishly.
"He wanted Kittens.. I tried telling him but I figured it might've been useless doing so. He likes Kittens anyway so i hope you don't mind..." Taekwoon confessed shyly, cheeks tinted pink. The latter was rather shy when having to explain to someone.
Hakyeon shrugged with a smile. Guess Christmas is having a little twist today. He carefully rolled out the dough and cut little Kitten shapes into the dough, placing them on the baking tray.
"Let's go do something while they bake, hm?" Taekwoon suggested, lifting Wonshik up and blowing a raspberry on his pudgy tummy, the toddler squealing in delight at the ticklish sensation. Taekwoon chuckled and carefully placed a dot of white icing from the bowl Hakyeon had on Wonshik's button nose, the toddler's face scrunching up cutely.
Taekwoon couldn't help the fond coo as he watched Wonshik attempt to lick away the sugary icing on his nose, eyes going nearly cross eyed. He chuckled as he wiped away the confection, receiving a cute pout from the child.
He placed Wonshik down and the toddler immediately raced away as fast as his legs would allow him, forcing Taekwoon to play chase. Shrieks of joy were heard as the two ran across the spacious daycare, Taekwoon carefully watching to make sure Wonshik wouldn't injure himself.
Eventually the toddler flopped onto a pile of soft duvets, squealing happily as Taekwoon pounced over him and ensued a tickle festival, the child attempting to weakly push away Taekwoon's sneaky fingers with no avail. Taekwoon grinned cheekily as he stopped his little torture on Wonshik, opting to pepper little kisses to Wonshik's face fondly, he truly loved the little kid. Wonshik giggled happily at the affection, his little fingers curled into the sleeve of Taekwoon's shirt.
Exhaustion settled among them evening and Wonshik yawned sleepily, curling up beside Taekwoon who contentedly wrapped his arms around the child, snuggling up to him. It wasn't before both caregiver and toddler were dreaming peacefully in their own little dreamland, gentle smiles on their faces.
Hakyeon peered out from the kitchen to check up on the duo and couldn't help but let his lips curl upwards in a fond smile. He grabbed a comfy duvet and draped it over them snugly, keeping them cozy and warm. They anyway had a few hours before the kids woke up.
He watched the two curl up with each other, Wonshik's little fingers holding onto Taekwoon's pointer finger, Taekwoon's other arm protectively around the toddler. They looked like Kittens.
Well, two adorable kittens..
