Liam was staying the weekend with Harry, it had now been half a year and by the looks of it, Harry wasn't any closer to giving up on his drinking issues. He didn't want to invade Harry's privacy, showing respect and giving Harry the benefit of the doubt, but there needs to be a line drawn somewhere. The line should've been drawn the night he made a deal with Nick Grimshaw, the bet involving Louis who didn't even have an objective in being there. His body is hooked up to multiple machines, a slow repetition of beeping noises throughout the room had his family worried and somewhat pacing.
Liam never actually knew what Louis looked like after the incident. Maybe he wasn't in too much pain, and hopefully, he had a chance to lay back and relax to recuperate as his body tried to heal from the frightful night and what was supposed to be an easy drive home. People always seem to think things will be fine, right? Louis did, he thought of giving Harry his space and even allow the lad to drink as he pleases, he just didn't want to be around that environment. Take a deep breath, Liam stood to his feet now and left Harry to peacefully rest.
It didn't last long, as he knew it wouldn't. Harry moved about down the hallway and into the kitchen, by the way, things had been over the last few months Liam knew without a doubt that it was painkillers he was searching for. At first, he acted as if he hadn't even heard the lad enter the room, but once he heard him crying going to his side to be where he knew was the best thing he could do for his friend.
"Harry, hey, it's going to be alright. The assurance Liam gave to Harry should've at least won an award by now, because as of now he has said that line over a million times. Each time he made it known to Harry that Louis was no longer with them, and the fact of Harry drinking wasn't going to bring him back, well it always ended in uproar and commotion.
"It's not okay Liam! You don't understand, and you never will." As he slipped from under Liam's gripped the tears pooled in his eyes and were soon streaming down his face. "Louis was your friend, okay?! He was close to you but he was even closer to me until he wasn't and-and it's all my fault."
As the lad finished voicing how he felt, he sunk to the floor and hugged his own knees, why was this so hard. It seemed that even the most heroic of men, could still pass away, and leave everyone in awe and wonder of why they left. Harry had a million questions and still no answers. Why didn't Louis live through it? Why was everyone stressing over how Harry decided to cope, it's not like he forced others to drink.
And another question, who hit Louis in the crash? It was a mystery until this day, and somehow no one else had a clue as to who did it, even Liam who had been at the scene. There wasn't anyone in the car with Louis, however, there was a black Mercedes which had looked a bit expensive, Harry could only imagine the reasoning as to why the other party was not there.
"C'mon Harry, I'll get you some meds, and you can get some rest okay?"
The thoughts lingered on his head as well as the question that was never answered, he could only agree he knew Liam was his friend and was willing to help him no matter what but this time he knew he messed up.
The next morning Harry of course became really close with the bathroom, unfortunately.
Liam tried to be there for Harry despite the lingering scent in the room, the lad looking puny, quite ill if he was being honest. There wasn't going to be much hope for Harry if he didn't start looking at the glass half full instead of half empty.
To say Harry needed help was an understatement and whatever it took for Harry to get better, Liam was willing to do, even if it required him paying money out of his pocket. He had known Harry from the moment Louis caught feelings for his chestnut curls and emerald green eyes. He would always joke around saying one day he would marry harry and maybe have his babies, well that didn't evolve like everyone would've wanted.
Even though Liam saw Louis less often due to the times he would hang out with Harry, he was never jealous and he would always understand why the lad's night had been canceled.
And here he was now, holding onto Harry, even though it, seemingly all anew, he could see why Harry chose the wrong crowd and a negative way to cope. Therapy, obviously being intimidating, an example of the feeling would probably be a toddler going to preschool for the first time. Of course, you'll get to go home eventually but what will happen inside? Will they be mean, possibly judgmental?
Harry definitely felt nervous about the entire idea of it all, but he didn't need to feel alone.
He would have Liam and Niall, if it ever included Niall harry would never go hungry. That would definitely be an added advantage, right? Liam thought so, he believed once Harry could see the therapist he would feel at least a bit better, and maybe even cope in a different way.
Peering down at Harry now made him realize how important all of this was now, he couldn't feel alone now that Louis was gone, he needs to have the support and even possible guidance as he took on a different journey of life.
Without speaking a word, he detached himself from Harry to help the lad to the bedroom and into his cozy bed, to hopefully sleep off all he had the night before. Nothing like he hadn't seen before, but he did need to be careful. Harry happened to be one of those that tended to wander when they had a hangover.
"Harry, I'll just be in the other room, I need to make a quick phone call."
Thinking about Liam leaving to the other room, caused agitation to some degree in Harry he didn't even recognize. "You can't leave me alone Liam do you remember what happened last time?"
Harry's voice surrounded the atmosphere in what people would claim to be neglect, he felt that he was alone and even worse when he was dealing with the hangover portion of being drunk. He hated Nick and still cared about him at the same time. Quite messed up, but everything was felt imperfect in his life now, or it's how he saw it.
Liam could see it in his eyes, being afraid of being alone, and it was probably due to being alone once Louis left him that night. The tragic hours of darkness and the uneasy feeling Liam had in the pit of his stomach as he approached Louis's black range rover. By the shards of glass, that was close to the tire, he could already assume that the wreck to the car was inadequate to fix, anyone could've been able to figure it out if they had quite the observant eye.
Drawn from his thoughts of the crash, and tears form in his eyes. If Liam were conceded, he would probably have Harry look after him, but he didn't think of himself. Especially not now, when he knew Harry needed the comfort and love at this time. Looking away, more ears fell and he could only mumble his words before slowly getting to his feet.
"I-I'll be back, Haz." Liam was almost certain he wouldn't hear him, but then again, maybe it didn't matter. Harry was fast asleep. "Now I can call the therapist."
