"So how're the first two weeks of working in UA? I hope you aren't getting a lot of injured students in the clinic every day or every other day", Shinsou teased as he took a spoonful of his sundae. [Name] pointedly glared at her companion and took a spoonful of her own desert and also a nibble of the slice of chocolate mousse cake that they decided to order just because of the cat designed toppings.
"We're both going to have diabetes if we keep going to cafes every time we meet", the female joked and Shinsou couldn't help giving heartfelt laughter of his own. "Well work has been hard and tiring and I'd prefer to have a relaxing day and splurge a bit to ruin my oh so strict diet once in a while thank you very much!"
For the past year of them being friends and hanging out together, it was a rare opportunity for [name] to try and give a joke or actually say something snarky. Not that she wasn't already charming with the way she already is, it was just she was - most of the time - straightforward and simply states things matter of factly especially if it came to work.
The two of them had met in the hospital that the Shinobu family managed in the states. Even though she was the older child of Dr. Shinobu, the young lady had put it in herself to volunteer with monitoring patients, visiting the young and elderly that were admitted to the hospital, and helping with rounds whenever the days proved to be busy and hectic. Sometime later they met once again but at a charity that was sponsored by their family. Shinsou was one of the pro heroes to be assigned to check in on the security of the event and he couldn't help but watch [name] from afar as she seemingly never tired out with helping those in need. And it was pretty easy then on how their friendship progressed. They both kept meeting in the most unlikely place when one or both were in or out of work.
From then on it became their habit of meeting at places like cafes to hang out, vent about work, and talk about life in general. But it wasn't until two months ago that the young man had found out that [name] had actually come from UA and it was his own mentor that helped train his friend to control his quirk as he did with Eri. It was classified info that the family had to keep a secret since the main perpetrator of the illegal experimentation of the young [name] was Dr. Shinobu's own twin brother.
Shinsou never really asked any specific thing related to his friend's past but he would ask [name] about her time under Aizawa from time to time. The young man couldn't help but think if they really had the same mentor all those years ago.
"Hey, [Name]..."
"Yeah?"
"Isn't it a weird coincidence that you happened to rent at the same apartment that Aizawa-sensei is staying at? I mean you both haven't contacted each other in 5 years. I was really surprised that the address you gave me was the same place as his"
For some reason the young lady in front of him got silent. No bad reaction per se. She just sat up on her chair and looked out the window in deep thought. "You know I never expected it either. After a year of not being to talk nor see him, Hizashi-san and Nemuri-san told me it would be better that I stop trying to contact him. I wasn't hurt, to be honest, but I was a bit... disappointed? If that's the right way to express it. I wanted to show him the life he helped give me. He changed me a lot in more ways than one. The life I lead now is proof of it. I just wanted him to see me... to see that everything I have now is all thanks to him"
If Shinsou's day hadn't started with a well-earned rest, he would have sworn he saw a tear threatening to fall from [name]'s eyes. He didn't say anything back nor did anything else. They basked in the silence between them and the bustling noise of the world around them. What else could he say? "Sorry" ? "He shouldn't have done that" ? They both knew the man. Nothing he does is without logical reason and the only way to get this feeling off of [name]'s chest was for her to confront their mentor and share her thought with him the same way she did to him.
Shinsou wasn't blind after all. He saw how much [name] treasured the time she had spent with Eraserhead even if it was just for a brief period of time. For someone like her who had her entire childhood taken away from her, the six months of being with someone who really treated and thought of her as a person, he wouldn't put it past her to develop a certain attachment towards the man.
The way [name] had reacted when she found out about the mini-reunion. When Aizawa had excused himself from the room when [name] sat down beside them during the party. Her longing looks towards her former guardian, wanting to tell him something but couldn't muster the courage to.
He had avoided asking a bountiful of personal questions towards [name] but it was plain to see what sort of thoughts and feelings she harbored for the older man.
"So when's you're next day off?" the [hair colored] girl asked as she began to mount her bike.
"Not entirely sure. The next job is indefinite and I have to stay in Shizuoka Prefecture for a while"
"Good luck then", she giggled and then rode off home leaving the young Pro Hero to himself. He still had quite a while before returning to his own residence. He was back home after all.
Shinsou walked around the streets trying to burn off the effect of the sweets he had eaten today which was a lot until he had stumbled upon the local park. Despite the sun already setting on the horizon, there was still a plentiful of people going about their day. It didn't take long when he decided to just enjoy the view and sit down for a while. But that was when a familiar person had caught his eye as he approached one of the benches nearby.
"Fancy meeting you here"
