After getting all the puzzles fit together, it felt like nothing would shock the pro hero Eraserhead anymore. It was agreed upon that the pro take the lead, walking just a few feet ahead in case trouble arose. Meanwhile, his partner [name] was in charge of watching over from behind. And since it was an 'official' business, both of them would have to address each other with their hero names instead of their real ones.
The child, Shouta, had already grew fond of his saviour and not let go of her hand in any way. The pro would occasionally glance back at his partner and other male immediately noticed.
"I guess we're off to a good start, huh?", Shinobu commented as he went closer to Eraser for them to talk. The pro avoided eye contact with the doctor and just gave a nod.
Somehow having a child being named after him made it feel a bit awkward. Shinobu sensed this and gave out an amused chuckle. "I guess I should have asked for your consent first"
Being the rational thinker that he is, he didn't bother retorting or giving any kind of response. In a way, he really was on a job but it wasn't the job he facades as a lookout job. It was the job he was given the first day he met [name] and it was about time he sees it through.
For that day, Shinobu had made it an excuse for the two heroes to tour them around the city. Aside from the tour being an excuse for them to spend a longer time together with the teen, it was true that the Shinobu family were unfamiliar with Musutafu.
Most of the doctor's professional career had taken him across the globe but for most of the time him amd his family had lived in the States. Although he was born in Japan, he never grew up in the town where [name] had 'technically' lived in.
They had first gone to the town's shopping district. The excited child had gone running ahead from the rest of the group and [name] was to follow after him since it was her main task after all. Aizawa had informed her that Shouta tends to get lost all the time and it was best for the 5 year old to be her first priority within their facade mission.
With the young ones roaming around, this gave the adults time to talk. Shinobu's wife, Asahina, had calmly walked towards the two males while they observed the young ones.
"Shou-chan seems to be enjoying this quite well", the female commented. She then faced the pro and gave a light bow. "Thank you very much for accompanying us"
"There's no need to thank me. It's a part of my mission", the pro said more apathetic than he usually was. He feigned his true feeling with disinterest that he wish it was actually the case. The other male looked a bit surprised with this statement but he wasn't going to be fooled.
"Liar" The pro heard his amused whisper and glared at the man for a second. Shinobu got the message loud and clear and just gave a smile back. He had requested for Aizawa to keep track of [name] 's thoughts and emotions about having their family around her. If all things go smoothly then they would break the news to her by the end of the week and maybe have her live with them before the next semester comes.
The teen came running with Shouta as the child pleaded for his parents to come along with them at a nearby toy store. Being the doting parent that Shinobu was, he indulged himself with his son's request and even had him ride on his shoulders on their way there.
Aizawa knew what the other male was up to so he took the opportunity to do his task early. He stalled [name] in her tracks and had her talk with him for a few minutes. The pro had to guise it as an on site report like what they had done during the interns. He wanted something subtle but he was too straightforward of a person to beat around the bush. Since the teen was awfully innocent and doesn't doubt any of her guardian's decisions and actions, her response was honest and as frank as she can be.
They planned to keep this routine up for the entire week so that they could build up trust and get to know each other before they drop the truth behind everything. And as the sun set and their first day ended, [name] and Shouta waved each other goodbye excited to meet again the next day.
"You seem happy", was a nonchalant remark from the pro. He wasn't the type to ask a person how their day had went but it was a must that he keep track of [name]'s thoughts and perspectives about her prospect family.
"I guess I am", the teen gave a joyful smile as she walked alongside the pro. Eraser felt the mood change in a second. [name] had wanted to say something more until her smile faded into a neutral stare and a stop with her movements. "Shouta was really fun to be with and Asahina-san was really nice to me... Its just... I just wondered what it would've been like to grow up in a normal family"
The pro's eye widened as he grasped the situation he was facing. This wasn't just some mere adoption process they were talking about. It was [name]'s past and future...no... It was her life on the line.
"I know its useless to sulk over what's happened. I understand that. But still... I just can't help but think..." Tears began to stream down her cheeks that bathed on the light of dusk. Seeing her all broken and scarred by her past reminded her of how fragile she actually was.
Right now, he was the only one who could understand the reality that [name] was facing, all that suffering she has been through and yet there he was torn between his personal affection towards the child and the responsibility he holds in his line of duty. He was reminded of the promise he made to her a few months back. How could he be so idiotic to vow something like erasing everything for her. The man was starting to get angry at himself for having such credulous thoughts.
Aizawa was then snapped out from his thoughts when a thud sound and small arms wrapped its way around his waist. "Can I... stay like this... Just for now?"
[name] buried her face onto his chest, her stature hardly reaching the man's shoulder level. Aizawa's movements confined to a minimum so he had his arm around her shoulders.
"Just this once", she was pulled closer to him while his head rested on her head. Her grip on his black attire tightened and streams of tears came as her sobs echoed on the empty street.
I'm sorry but this is for the best
