After more than a day in the Intensive Care Unit, Aizawa Shouta had finally awoken and was now resting in one of the hospital's private rooms. His entire body was wrapped with bandages making him look like a mummy who just came out from its sarcophagus. He could barely move his limbs and he was reminded to keep his movements to, at least, a bare minimum. Although judging by his current condition, he was absolutely lucky to get out of that disaster alive which made him groan at the mere thought.
"Oh! I see somebody's finally conscious", a not so energetic voice commented as it entered the room. "Glad to see you awake, buddy", Mic gave an emotional and faint smile that told him how much his friend really worried.
The blonde pulled out a chair and began narrating to his injured friend what happened right after he passed out - of course, in his casual radio broadcasting comic kind of way. He had also told the latter about his condition the day prior to his awakening - having both arms and his face fractured but luckily, no brain damage and then having his orbital floor bones crushed, which may leave some after effects in his eye. There was just one thing that Hizashi wasn't telling Aizawa.
"Where's [name]?", he asked.
There was a gloomy silence before the blonde spoke again. Hizashi was biting his lower lip. He couldn't bare to tell his friend the news. "Actually... [Name] was... taken back into custody of the facility. When she saw you in that condition, she went berserk and even her collar broke off. It was a really nasty sight"
"I see", was Aizawa's only comment after hearing such things. The man in bandages understood that it was the most logical thing to do in that situation and couldn't be helped especially when he wasn't around to stop it. But as far as he's known the child, she wouldn't do any action without a logical basis or reason. So why? Why would she do such a thing that would put her own freedom at stake?
"How illogical", he huffed.
And as if reading the man's mind, he answered his thoughts with his own. "I guess that's what happens when you love someone"
Aizawa's eyes widened at the thought. "Pardon?"
"You heard what I said. Don't act dumb with me"
"We've only been together for a week. How could you even come up with a conclusion like that?"
"Isn't it obvious, Shouta? [name] loves you that's why she gave you her entire trust even after so many years. You both might not know it but I can see it loud and clear. Yes, it sounds illogical for you but that's how love works, buddy" And for the first time, the aloof and stoic man couldn't even give a single retort about how his best friend's reasoning sounded so stupid. "If you won't believe me then see her for yourself after you get released and you'll know what I mean"
Once visiting hours were over, Aizawa was left to himself. He could only look up at the ceiling (because of his condition) and wonder about the words that his friend had left him. Why did he feel so undermined with the thought of her back in the facility? Why did he feel so desolate now that she isn't under his care anymore? Shouldn't he be happy? He'd have more time and he could go back to his old routine of late night patrols and extra hours of grading papers.
Fuck!
The next day, Recovery Girl had come to check on the badly injured hero. Of course he declined her help since the injury he had was because of his own reckless actions and he didn't want to keep relying on her. The elder hero already knew of his stubbornness but insisted on it anyway. And being as tenacious as he is, he had asked for Present Mic take care of his hospital bill and the like so he could be discharged on that same morning. Of course he had an argument with his doctors but they already knew he won't budge.
The Pro Hero Eraserhead had responsibilities and he was chucked full of them. Now, more than ever, he had to fulfill those duties and help guide his students especially with all the unexpected events that they had experienced. And like as he had said the moment he entered his classroom packaged in bandages "My welfare is of no concern"
There was a much more important battle they had to face and it was one of the most anticipated events in the history of U.A.. It was the upcoming sports festival. Everyone was beaming with excitement and, at the same time, worry. They were just attacked by villains the other day and now they were about to engage on a school event just days after. But, on the hand, this was to prove that the school's crisis management system was outstanding and having the security quintupled was the best countermeasure they could establish. It was also the best chance for them, as aspiring heroes, to prove their worth and have themselves scouted by big-shot and pros for their internships in the near future.
"If you don't have anything else to clarify then...", before he could even talk further, a hand went up. "What is it, Iida?"
"Sensei... Can we know what happened to [last name]-san?", the stern class representative gave a worried look which seemed to be mimicked by the rest of the class. "She was immediately taken in by the police the other day right after her outburst and we just wanted to know how she's doing now", the child's words became a whisper through the end of his sentence.
"Unfortunately, she can't be with us anymore. She was deemed too dangerous and will be in custody of the facility once more", it was a cold statement but he had to be direct.
"But, sensei... hasn't she suffered enough?", a highly sensitive Midoriya stood up to intrude in the conversation. "All Might didn't give us any specific details about [name] other than her current state and quirk but we figured that if she really did have an uncontrollable quirk then wouldn't she have been detained since she acquired it?"
"Yeah. And if she's around our age that would mean..."
"She's been locked up in a detainment facility somewhere..."
"For over 10 years or maybe her whole life"
"Are we correct with our assumption, sensei?"
Eraserhead's eyes widened. This was the collective conclusion of his class and it astounded him that with very little detail, they had managed to come up with it. At that moment, he couldn't deny what they had said nor could he affirm it. The whole detail of [name]'s undertaking with the pro hero was a government secret and only the staff and the higher ups could know.
"Can't you bring her back, Sensei?", asked Kirishima.
"Maybe we could help you out with [name] while you're still recovering. Maybe we could even...", at that point, indistinct chatter began to fill the room. They were filled with talks and suggestions about how they could support their homeroom teacher as the preparation for the sports festival went on.
Every one of you...
"That's enough!", with a firm shout the chatter immediately died down. They all still had something they wanted to say but their teacher's glare made them think otherwise.
"That is not your decision to make. Homeroom is dismissed", with a heavy heart, Aizawa had left his class with utter disappointed - their stares following him as he vanished from their sight.
By the end of the day, even with his injuries, the pro hero still managed to get through. Although he was being pestered by Midnight and Mic, unrelenting with whines and pleas for him to go see the child, he didn't even yield for a bit. He tried giving them deathly stares but they just wouldn't shut up.
The sun had set hours ago and he was the last to leave the lounge, mind still filled with thoughts of the day. He was snapped back to reality when he had bumped into a tired yet hardworking Tsukauchi.
"Good Evening, Eraserhead"
"Good Evening to you too, Detective", he bowed in the slightest manner. He looked over the him until his gaze wondered over the papers the younger male was holding.
"Oh this? Its the plan for the security measures during U.A.'s sports festival. I had just finished talking with Principal Nezu about it", he explained. "Is there something wrong?"
There was an eerie silence as the pro hero contemplated on whether or not he would ask the young officer about it but...
"Actually..."
