The rain was pouring endlessly. The loud splatter of liquid on concrete was enough to drown Aizawa's thoughts. Everything was too loud, noisy even. The continuous shower was beginning to irritate him and yet he did not move from where he stood or to simply put it... he couldn't. He did not know how long he had been there or how long has the rain went on. Calloused hands went up to brush the wet hair from his face and eyes just emptily stared from the ground to the sky. He felt every drop on his features but not once did he feel cold. For some odd reason, he actually felt numb of sensation.
Several more moments passed and the sound of rain started to tune out. It was still as intense but the noise began to slowly quiet down until, for the first time in this weird scenario, he had heard something else. From looking up at the grey sky, his head slowly tilted towards where the unknown sound was emanating. It was someone crying.
"It's you again", he muttered not sure if it was heard. What he saw was awfully similar to the last dream he had. He wondered what it could have meant but as far as he knew, nothing really made sense in his current situation.
Little by little, the rain had finally died down and all that was left were mere puddles of water at his feet. Sensation also came back to him. The slight gust of wind made him feel cold... colder than he ever felt in some time. Without even thinking, he took a step forward. One step became two, three, four, until he was moving. His feet had taken him towards the crying person that had stood in the harsh weather with him.
There was a tight feeling that coiled in his chest as he watched this person sob. He wanted to speak but found that he couldn't. The more time he stood there observing his companion the more the feeling in his chest ached. He kept aching until it was too much. Both hands instinctively, came up to wrap themselves around this crying figure. The distance lessened and lessened until his front pressed close to the person's back, face buried on their shoulder.
Aizawa could feel the apprehension on their trembling body but they showed no resistance to such an intimate action. The contact between their bodies radiated heat that chased away the cold feeling he had been feeling since the rain stopped along with the insistent ache in his chest.
"Don't leave me again", he murmured whilst still leaning on the figure. He didn't understand why he had said what he did but it felt 'right'. They relaxed in his hold and even leaned into his touch.
"I won't"
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
When the next day did come, [name] did come to U.A. as well - not as a visitor - but as a staff of the said prestigious school. The young lady had headed off earlier than usual to make a good impression on her former teachers and, now, co-workers. Even after so many years, she was happy and, most importantly, pleased that it was still Recovery Girl was that was in charge of running the infirmary. It would be the perfect opportunity to return all the care and kindness that the elder lady gave her during her short stay from years ago.
"Have you talked properly to him yet?", the elder asked as she moved to face [name]. "Five years is a long time. I know you have kept direct contact with all of us except Aizawa and I know the lack of communication with him all these years have been weighing on you and I don't want that"
A small smile curved on her lips as [name] remained standing by the window, watching the younger ones train. "I did but... I know he had reasons for what he did. He always had. I trust Aizawa-san and that's enough for me"
Recovery Girl could only heave a long sigh to which [name] just smiled in response. 'You've definitely taken after his stubbornness'
As the bell for lunch rang, students have come to the cafeteria. All the food served by Lunch Rush was still as superb as the young lady had remembered but what she actually hoped for was a chance to meet up with her former guardian because for sure he was feeding on jelly drinks instead of proper food again.
It was a bit awkward to just enter and leave the lounge freely but [name] had to remind herself that she was working in UA even though it was just a part-time thing. Without nothing really worthwhile to do until the rest of her family arrives in Japan, this was the most productive she can use her time. And also because productivity was one of the things her former guardian wanted her to value most if she did pursue being a Hero as a career.
"Oh [name]-chan!", a delighted Nemuri greeted just as soon as the young lady entered the room. And because of the unneeded loudness of the greeting, it had gotten the attention of the handful of heroes in the room including Aizawa. The scruffy faced male barely moved to look but her figure was enough to be seen in his peripheral vision. "Have you come to bring lunch?"
A light tint of red stained [name]'s cheeks as it became obvious what her intentions were. "I brought some rice balls for you guys", she explained as she held out the container at hand. There was a bit of apprehension knowing that the black-haired male didn't even bat her a look but even so she would respect it if the man wouldn't accept her offer.
"Is that so ~", a mischievous glint sparked between Nemuri and Hizashi who had been awfully quiet for the past few minutes since the young girl came. There was a half-choked laugh ready to spill from either of them before Aizawa actually decided to lift his head and stare at both his friends who sat on the table just opposite to his. "Well we've actually had lunch already but Eraser still hasn't. You can just give him our share"
Aizawa gave both an irritated glare before he decided to finally acknowledge the young one's presence. "Fine"
And with just one word, [name] felt herself relax. There was practically a huge grin plastered on her face right now but paid it no mind. The two other heroes also didn't delve on it either and just watched with amusement.
"Let me clean my table first"
