"Focus", it was a stern command from the hero, Eraserhead. The man's lean frame glistened with sweat as he easily dodged all of [name]'s kicks and blows effortlessly. Her clothes were already soaking from the amount of energy she had been putting in with her training. Aizawa had been teaching her more complex offensive and defensive moves ever since they had moved on with the second part of their hand-to-hand combat.
There was one thing that Aizawa had concluded so far and it was that [name] being a true genius. The child had been studying self defense beforehand in between her studies at school and just recently he had given her a few tips and some instructions. But with just that amount of information compiled into words scribbled on paper, [name] managed to apply them and put all of her knowledge to use.
Once she found an opening, [name] moved in to try and aim for Aizawa's legs to throw him off balance. But the moment she stepped forward, Aizawa had already took a defensive squatting position and used his forearms to block her kick. The moment he blocked her attack, Aizawa went into the offensive and used his other arm to grab a hold of her shin ready to throw her to the side but suddenly... her astonishing reflexes had kicked in.
Before her body could even land face first on the concrete, [name] managed to retract her hand and use it as leverage between herself and the floor. Within a split second, she pushed herself up giving her enough momentum to give her guardian a rotating kick that landed square on the head. Because of the child's restricted position, the force wasn't strong enough to knock the older one out but it was strong enough to make him lose his grip and balance. At that moment, Aizawa could only rub his head and stare whilst his mind tried to replay the events in his mind.
What? That was ... For the first time in a long while, the raven haired man was at a loss for words. The child's ingenuity and decision making were absolutely impeccable and extraordinary that it was almost too hard to believe. On the other hand...
"I... finally... did it...", [name] gasped and breathed in between her words. The child had been startled and amazed with the outcome that she was smiling triumphantly despite her exhaustion.
"I'm impressed", was all the older male could say to praise her. He slowly moved over to sit beside her until she could catch her breath and bring her adrenaline back down. "We'll be able to pull through with the last part of your training just before the camp if you can keep this pace up"
"And when I'm done with training, you'll have finished your job with taking care of me, right?"
"Yes, apparently so..."
Silence soon followed as he answered. Aizawa couldn't help but think back to the first time he had met [name] back at the detention facility. No one would've been able to recognize her because of the sheer improvement that she had gone through.
There's no point in being nostalgic, is there?
When August came, the summer camp had already come knocking on U.A.'s door. All of the students from the Hero Department had gathered near the school's entrance and was ready for their early departure to the location of the training grounds. Both Class A and B's buses have gone on the same route both having one hour intervals of stops. Everyone had sat beside those they were comfortable sitting with either for the reason of having some fun or having some peace and quiet during the ride.
Of course Aizawa tried to give a few reminders while they were still on board but they were too indulged with the thought of a school trip that no one even cared to listen. He decided that it was better off letting them have some fun while they had the chance.
With everyone paired off, the child decided to just accompany her guardian at the very front instead of joining with her classmates although another reason for this was because she'd have better view of the mountain landscapes if she seated with him. Yet despite the ruckus from the back, [name] was more or less indulged by the scenery instead of the trip itself. It was the first time she'd laid eyes on a terrain that was pure green and blue. Her inner child couldn't help but be at awe and the evidence was painted right on her placid features.
"I suggest you don't let your guard down even for a second", Aizawa said as he laid back on his seat, arm crossed and eyes closed. [Name] wasn't sure if she really heard his teacher mutter those words for a moment since the fabric of his weapon covered half of his face but she decided that it was better to take those words seriously and snap herself out of it.
The teen looked down at her lap and her [eye color] orbs were set sight on the several band-aids that seemed to decorate her palms and fingers. Her hands then held the tube-like case that was placed on her lap ever so tightly. She was gripping it so hard that even her fist became pale. In her fragile, innocent mind, there was just no way she could let Aizawa down and this summer camp was prime opportunity to prove herself.
"What's with that face?", a curious Hagakure peeked over the teen's seat and patted her on the shoulder. "Are you excited about the camp too?"
[name] gave a puzzled look and it just made the atmosphere a bit awkward. "I don't know... I mean, I know what excitement means... I just don't know how it feels", she clarified.
Hagakure then looked back at her seatmates who were also listening in on their conversation. "I guess to put it simply..."
"Its like when your chest feels tight and when your stomach churns but in a good way", said Uraraka who was rather unsure of her own choice of words.
"Its like the same feeling when your nervous but instead of being scared, you want something to happen", added Tsuyu who tried to made sense of Uraraka's explanation. "Did that make sense to you?"
[name] went silent and tried to interpret her classmates' opinions but eventually she did affirm that it was more or less exactly the same feeling they were trying to imply. And since the young teen's inquiry had been satisfied, it was time for her classmates to return the favor.
"Oh, by the way, [name]-chan. I noticed you've been holding a carrier case. What is it for?"
The young teen was just about to answer Tsuyu's question when the bus suddenly stopped. The driver had given the signal that it was time to stop and take a break. The seemingly asleep homeroom teacher - who was actually awake - had passed the message onto his students and one by one, everyone had finally gotten off the bus to take a breather.
Once everyone had gathered around, Aizawa finally took the lead and started laying down the directive for the start of the camp. He had introduced two cat-like pro heroes who were presumably called the Wild Pussycats who, apparently, owned the scale of land where their camp was located.
Little by little, the students had gotten the hints and signs of what their teacher and visitors had to say. [name] immediately got the message and looked at her guardian. Aizawa gave a slight nod which reminded her of the piece of advice that he had told her while they were still on the bus. The teen grabbed hold of the tube's sling and braced herself for everything that happened next.
