"Okay. Class is over", the homeroom teacher with bloodshot eyes said as he arranged the papers he had gathered at hand. "There's a week left before the final exams, but you guys better be studying. I'm sure you're aware, there are written and practical exams. Simultaneously train your mind and body. That's it"
As soon as the sliding door at front closed, frustrated shouts came from Kaminari and Ashido who were both stood at the bottom in the midterm exam rankings. And as per the usual happenings, chatter began to fill the entire classroom.
Many of the students in 1-A were confident enough considering that they had prepared for such a day to come. But the only thing everyone worried about was the practical exams. The desperate ones - like Kaminari and Ashido - tried to coerce [name] to find out what their homeroom teacher knew but as it were, of course, she knew better.
Yes, [name] was a bit worried also in her part but she had to be brave enough to face the upcoming challenge ahead as to not disappoint her guardian and sensei.
The determination she had been putting forth had changed her little by little. She had managed to gain more confidence, not just with her ability control but also with how she interacts with others. She had even been praised by the other pros who handled the Hero Course.
"[Last Name]-san, you ranked 10th in the Midterms right? Will you be okay in the practical exams?", asked Sero who happened to be nearby. There was still a sense of awkwardness whenever she was approached by others but she does her best to give an earnest reply.
I'll give it my all was what she tried to say but it just turned into a silent yes with a corresponding nod. The enthusiasm she showed wasn't as obvious as Yaoyorozu's but it was certainly as cute. Since she was starting to get a little more outgoing, her femininity was definitely attracting attention.
Back then, whenever class ended, Aizawa would let her accompany him in the teacher's lounge. But now the stoic male would let her socialize with his other students. He would get a few jeers and some elbows from time to time but he just ignored every one of them.
Idiots, he'd murmur or think to himself. Out of all the people inside the prestigious school, of course, Aizawa would be the first to notice the change taking place with [name]. He wasn't that dense or oblivious about it yet... it was like his nerves would only ease if he'd rather turn a blind eye on that certain matter. He'd ignore the fact that the only times he'd get to be reunited with the young teen was during lunch and/or when going home. But if that meant that she was improving herself then he would let her do as she wished.
Whenever they were at his apartment, most of [name] 's time was spent on studying and reviewing for the final exams. She still did meditation before bed and would go out jogging early in the morning. If Aizawa wasn't able to accompany her with their morning routines, she'd just do a few stretching exercises and a few warm ups before they head off to school.
During 1-A's free time, they'd have a group study session... but not for [name]. She would excuse herself and go to the infirmary to get some meditation done. Since she hasn't mastered the activation of her new found ability yet, she wanted to get a few sessions done before the practical exams even though it seemed useless.
There was information going about that robots were to be used in the second part of the exams so even if she did manage to use her quirk by then, she'd still have a low chance of being able to pass.
Due to the fact that the exams were just a few hours away, the principal had called for a meeting for all the staff who were involved with teaching in the Hero Course. This specific reason only meant that the Erasure hero was to call overtime hours having [name] also stay at school with him.
It was already dark by the time all the students had gone home already. The young teen had been left to herself at the lounge as she awaited for her guardian and everybody else to come back and call it the day. But as she laid idle in the comfort of her guardian's desk, her feelings became uneasy. To stop and distract herself from such thoughts, [name] decided it was best for her to take a walk.
As she was completely deep in thought, she hadn't noticed that she was already making her way towards the meeting hall of U.A.'s faculty and personnel. That was when she had heard a few distinct chatters coming from inside it.
The child could only make out some of their discussions since going to close would let her presence be noticed by the others. She reminded herself that it was an important meeting it and it wasn't right to eavesdrop on her teachers but she couldn't help but overhear the rest of the conversation when she heard Aizawa's voice.
"We should just ignore those. They just want to complain", the man said grumbling. It was then that Midnight and Cementoss had interjected his comment.
"That's not how it works", said the female hero.
"We understand the change in the entrance exam, but pairing the students to fight against the teacher is..."
There was a prolonged silence after Cementoss' words but...
Fighting against teachers? [name] knew what she was doing was wrong but a part of her couldn't help but be intrigued. Should she tell the others? Or keep it to herself? She didn't know what to do. As her thoughts continued, so did the conversation inside.
"What do you say, Principal?" asked her guardian.
"Whatever it is, I agree with changing the content of the practical exam. To prevent the students from facing anymore danger, what do we need to do? The answer is simple. The students need to become stronger"
After hearing the resolute statement of Nezu, [name] immediately turned her heels back towards the lounge. It was hard not to pretend that she didn't hear the previous events but it was the right thing to do and even Aizawa would agree to her decision.
Wait... Should she even tell him that she knew? If she told him, would he be disappointed in her? An eerie feeling began to overwhelm her stomach and chest.
After the meeting was adjourned, the entire place was already pretty dark. It hadn't exactly occurred to the raven haired male how much time had actually passed during the hours. He was the first to exit the hall and made his way to the lounge. As he entered, he saw [name] sitting on the floor right beside his table. The child was hugging her knees with her head down. The pro hero dropped everything and quickly went beside her.
"[name]! What's wrong?", the older asked worryingly.
The child slowly raised her head to look at the man but her eyes immediately focused on something else. "I'm... fine. I just feel bad", she murmured.
Just by the way her eyes avoided his told Aizawa that there was definitely something going on with her. What happened while she was alone?, he wondered.
He didn't know much about giving comfort to other people but if there was indeed something bothering his student then he had to do or at least say something. "If you won't tell me, its fine. I'll listen whenever you're ready to talk so... Let's go home. You still have exams tomorrow"
Aizawa scratched his nape as to relieve the awkwardness of saying such things. He then held his hand out to help the young teen and proceeded on their way home while still holding her hand tight.
A/N: Imagine this face saying those lines to you and then walking hand in hand home
