"How is he doing?"

The nurse rolled her eyes. "Luckily, we were able to keep the curse suppressed long enough for him to heal to more stable conditions. The curse still has a good hold on him, but now that he's stable, both him and his wendigo will be able to recover. They are recovering faster than we anticipated."

James nodded, "You don't seem so happy."

"That man is one of the most stubborn men I have ever met." She sighed, "I'm going to lose my mind if I have to keep this up."

"What is he doing?"

Nurse shrugged her shoulders as they turned a corner. "Usually what most other stubborn patients do. Refuse his pills, refuse to eat, Damian is now toying with the records and now all their paperwork has to either be under surveillance or locked in our office. He doesn't even change it, he just scribbles all over them. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to shoo that thing away with a broom. Both of them toy with anyone that comes near their room." She smiled as they neared Vex's room. "I'm just glad they aren't messing with the other patients. The staff are losing their minds, we don't need the patients losing their marbles as well."

When the nurse opened the door he was met with the smell of rot. James had to pause before the door to get used to the smell. When he walked in and turned to Vex, he almost lost his lunch. Vex was wrapped in many white bandages that had black substance soaking through them. He was always on the thinner side, but now he was anorexic. His cheeks were bandaged as well, but they seemed to have healed more than the rest of him.

James cringed remembering Vex's face during their fight. His cheeks had ripped from how far his mouth opened.

"Hello, Miss Rain." Vex spoke in a happy chirp. His eyes following the nurse.

"Oh you better not start now." The nurse hissed. "Will you be able to talk with the investigator while I rewrap your bandages?"

Vex nodded. When he glanced to James, James was able to see how blood shot his eyes were.

"You already know why I'm here?"

Vex nodded. The nurse had pulled the sheet off of Vex, revealing the rest of his bandages. She started with his feet, her hands were gentle and efficient as they revealed what James was smelling. James avoided looking at the rot and took a seat closer to Vex.

"Unless you have any intel on where Lia could have been taken my team are at a dead end. We searched that building up and down and there's nothing, not a single clue to where she could have gone. Daisy's whole building was burned down as well."

Vex grew a large smile.

"I assume you know where she may be?"

"While I was turned by the curse, I was still able to hear what was going on around me." Vex smile grew toothy, "Before I killed Daisy, I heard her last words loud and clear."

For having his mouth ripped open, Vex is speaking very clearly. James must have underestimated just how fast he is healing. The nurse was finished with his legs and now started rewrapping the big bandage on his chest. Seeing the bandage reveal the damage made James feel guilty. That was where he threw most of his blows during the fight.

Where was Damian? Shouldn't he be looking over him?

"I guess your not going to tell me where she is so easily?"

"Are you gonna let me walk away with her?"

James pursed his lips. His pen tapped against the empty page of his journal. "Would you make a compromise?"
