"Damn it all to hell!" Daisy spat as she paced in her office.
The witch, standing in front of the door, stood stiffly with her hands slightly fisted. "I could try again?" She said hopefully.
Daisy stopped and looked to her. Her face didn't lighten up, it was stuck in its mean and crooked state.
"I think I can get her this time," the witch tried to speak more confidently this time.
Daisy approached her till she was up in the younger lady's face. The witch could smell the morning coffee and cigarette on her breath.
"What made me think you could do it? All you did was alert Damian and now he'll be waiting for you next time!"
She pulled her fist back before landing a blow on the witch's stomach. The witch fell to the floor and coughed. She held her stomach and groaned as she tried to slowly get back to her feet. Before she could get up Daisy was walking back to her and kicked her ribs, making her fall back down. Deciding against it the witch stayed on the floor and Daisy walked back to her desk.
Daisy looked at the lady on the floor and thought long and hard.
"Go put the curse on Vex."
The witch shook her head. "That's suicidal."
Daisy walked back over to her. She brought her feet close to the woman's side and leaned over her. "Disobeying me is suicidal as well." She said more smoothly. "Pick the way you'd like to go."
The witch was silent for a brief moment. "I'll need my things."
Daisy nodded with a smile, "I'll make certain you have everything your need."
She left the witch on the floor of her office. Down the hall, a man opened an elevator for her and without a word, pressed the button to go down. The pristine elevator opened up to the basement. Concrete and metal pipes were all the decorated the area. She swiftly walked out and down the hall. Her strides were long and quick as she turned left and right through the maze.
Cries of a man echoed quietly down the halls as she approached the room tucked away in the corner of her maze. Two guards stood on either side of the door. One stood tall and even taller when correcting his posture upon seeing Daisy. The other, her older guard had his nose in a thick book.
"How's Vex?" Daisy asked loosely as she peaked through the small window framed in the door. It was musty and only gave a poor view of Vex sitting in the chair.
One of the guards grabbed keys from his pocket, "Completely silent and motionless these past couple of days." One he got it unlocked he stepped back into his original position.
Daisy walked in. Its been a long while since she had visited him. A lot longer than she anticipated.
Vex was a lot different this visit. Normally, he became attentive and irritating as soon as she entered the door. Not this time. Vex sat motionless with his head tilted to the side. His hair started to grow out and covered part of his face. Daisy noticed his knee. The guards must have had some fun with him. His knee was swollen and a dark red.
His ankles and wrists were covered in large amount of blood. The rope has now engraved deep canals into his skin. She could see some skin pulled back, showing the red tissue underneath.
Lifting her foot she set it onto his knee and rested her weight onto it. With a whisper of a groan, Vex tilted his head up to look at her. His eye was missing and only a sunken mess of black blood was crusted around the eye socket. The thin rope around his neck has about completely disappeared under his skin. He's neck and chest were covered in dry blood from his neck.
His limbs were thin and skeletal. She traced a finger along his collar bone feeling how close the bone seem to puncher the skin.
She grinded her heal into his knee. He tensed and leaned back the little that he could in his chair. Besides that he had little reaction.
She shook her head as she took in his unfamiliar features. "I can't believe I was afraid of you." She gave her foot one last hard press into his knee before putting back onto the ground.
Vex didn't move. His head was barely tilted up enough for him to gaze lazily to her.
"You never can accept your losses. I always admired and hated that."
She squatted down in front of him so she could see his dirt and sweat covered face.
"Is she really worth this? All this pain?" Daisy spoke sweetly. "After all, your the one that brought her to me. You took that money and left her with me. If you bring her back to me, I promise to take good care of her."
She reached out and gently cupped Vex's chin and tilted his face to her so she could see him straight on. He was listening.
"My property for your freedom." She stated slowly, trying to read Vex's worn expression. "You can even be my partner in crime again?" She leaned close to his ear with the softest whisper she spoke. "I'll let you use me again."
Vex smiled lazily. She saw a tinge of pain creep onto his face as he moved.
"As much I love the offer-" he coughed roughly.
Daisy's soft demeanor started to sour. She reached for his throat, giving it a slight squeezed to make it more difficult for Vex to compose himself.
"Lia has me wrapped around her little finger." Vex smiled painfully.
That was enough to make Daisy lose her temper. She yanked the rope around his neck hard in one pull before going after him with punches. Vex didn't do anything to dodge the hits that Daisy expertly hit in his gut and face. He closed his only good eye and let his body take it. It wasn't long till the chair was tipped sideways and only encouraged Daisy to start kicking him with her steal toe boots.
She didn't stop till she was out of breath. With one last hard kick to his gut she stepped back to catch her breath. Vex tried to open his eye, but it was swollen shut. He laid there with all his muscles slack. His knee was throbbing as his wrist and ankles screamed.
"I hope you and Lia manage to survive through what I'm about to do to you." She walked to him and pulled his hair to bring his head up. "I will pull your disfigured corpse right back down here for you to rot for the rest of your days knowing your little Lia is with some monster. I know you have taken her purity, but with her bloodline I suspect many monsters will want her for a high price." She brought her face close to Vex and spat into his eye socket, "I'll make sure she is sold to the worst of my clients out there." With a smile she slammed his head to the floor and stood back up. "Of course, knowing that she is your precious, I'll make certain they give me full detailed updates."
With one last kick to the gut, Daisy walked out in long strides. Vex could barely hear her shouting on the other side of the door as he let his consciousness slip.
Author's note...
I have been very emotional lately and have been struggling with being a functional adult. So Lia and Vex are not gonna be happy with what I have planned for these next few chapters. :)
