The cup in her hands was warm. The cocoa inside the large mug was slightly steaming. The first sip she took burned her tongue. The pain it brought to her tongue didn't bother her. What did was the smell of rich cocoa that reopened the wounds as the smell brought back memories. Memories she didn't want to remember then.

This morning. After everything that had happened. After finally getting away and just starting something new. A chance for her to prove that she's more than the girl that Vex had saved. It had to be taken away. Her Vex had to be taken away.

What on earth could it be now?

She thought back. Vex was a light sleeper. The change in her breath as she woke up from her sleep would wake him up. So to have him limp like a log as the whole commotion played out scared her. What if he wasn't ok even before he was taken. What if he is sick?

She felt guilty. It scrambled her insides and wanted to as if crawl up her throat and onto the table and into her cocoa. The thought made her sniffle. She scrunched her eyes shut tightly and shook her head. She has nothing to give back to Vex for everything that he has done for her. All she showed back for his unconditional love were tears and insecurities.

She felt like she has taken advantage of Vex. Even at that moment when they were cornered in that room as the door busted open Damian left his companion and abandon Vex's safety just for her.

Lia tried to sip on her still too hot cocoa again with shaky hands.

Small noise from Greg as he searched through something sounded throughout the house. They were in Greg's house. It wasn't as small as the cabin. It was obviously built for a large family.

After the incident, Greg took Lia to his house. He didn't say much. Just mumbles if she was ok and if she was hurt. His face was shallow and with a slight frown. And he said he was sorry he couldn't get there sooner.

He was forgiven even before he was sorry. He did nothing wrong. Everything happened so fast. She thought it was good that he didn't interfere she was worried they might've shot Greg if he tried to help. And that would have been awful for a good man such as Greg to get hurt over Lia and Vex's struggles.

Damian was at the couch sitting atop of it looking out the window to what was left of the still burning cabin. He hasn't done much either besides sit and look out the window. His chest and arms were hunched over the backrest as he looked out the window. The rest of his long body stretch down to the seat cushion where his oddly shaped hips laid.

She looked back when she heard Greg walk back to the room. He had a white paper envelope. He gently set it in front of Lia before taking a seat where he had set his coffee earlier. He watched as she opened it.

Her eyes grew wide and she looked to the man in shock.

"I can't take this." She murmured as she shoved the money back in the envelope. She pushed it to the man across the table the farthest she could.

It was a thick amount of money. All she could see in the bundle were hundreds.

The man reached out and grabbed the envelope. This time standing up and walking to the side of Lia's chair he gently grabbed her hand and pressed the envelope into her hand and wrapped her fingers around it.

He looked at her in the eyes. "This money," he started, "If you do not take it. This money will only collect dust in my home before it gets past down to some buyer of this house after I pass."

Lia tried again. "But what if you have an emergency?"

"This money was my emergency money," the man smile sadly. "My wife past before I could spend a penny of it."
