Vex walked down the long hall. His hands full with his suitcase and cane. His canes contact to the floor echoed up and down the hall. To his right, the large glass windows showed the starry view of the city. A view he was gifted with having an office of his own just a floor down. The lights above him shined harshly, contrasting the night outside. Looking down below, he could see his small VW beetle on the top floor of the parking garage.

Adjusting his grip on his suitcase, he walked into the elevator where Luke waited, a smile worn on his face. He walked in and put his suitcase down so he could adjust his tie. Luke pushed the button to the bottom floor, a long wait down.

"So?"

Vex smile, looking over to see Luke's larger one. Straightening his back and holding his chin high, he cleared his throat.

"I turned it down."

Luke's eyes widen, his jaw fell open slightly. "You turned down the promotion?"

Vex nodded. "They would be putting me in Hawaii." Vex chuckled quietly to himself. "I promised my wife no more adventures."

Luke leaned towards him. "You would have been set for a permanent vacation! Your wife would have been ecstatic."

Luke was a young man and Vexs business partner. Despite being a great business man with a good head on his shoulders, it was obvious that this job was too subtle for Luke. Vex could see the young fiery soul raging behind his puppy eyes. He was fit and healthy as a horse, more handsome than Vexs more slightly aged features. Vex could see him fit better in a scene fighting fires or climbing mountains.

"You still have a chance to take it."

Luke shook his head, "I would want to take it, but at the same time your the only one who's actually teaching me anything. As much as I think you deserve it I appreciate you staying and I would prefer to stay here with you."

Vex checked his watch. "They kept me longer than I expected. They really wanted to me take it."

"Well, let me know if you change your mind."

"Oh trust me," Vex looked to Luke in the eyes. "I dont plan on leaving."

"Good, then Ill need you to review the contract with me tomorrow before we make any decisions."

Vex nodded. His experience running an underground human trafficking company with Daisy really came in handy. It was easy to lie on the resume when he could easily show his skill in business and communication. The work here was nothing. Damian and his mind grew restless near the end of every day from the lack of excitement. He had to admit the lack of danger and gun wielding idiots was very appreciated when he was hired for this job.

"Bring me a printed copy."

"And your usual black coffee?" Luck added. The only remedy that seemed to loosen up the old man.

Vex nodded, grabbing his things when the elevator doors opened to the bottom. "Ill see you tomorrow."

They both wished eachother good evenings before splitting ways. Vex walk out the front lobby, waving goodbye to the receptionist. Outside, a light drizzle of rain had coated the city in a slow steady pour. He walked to the parking garage and took the small elevator to where he parked. He stopped in front of his car door and fetched his keys. Getting in, he turned the keys in the ignition and drove out of the garage and down the road. The light traffic allowed him to drive faster. Looking at his watch, he saw the small hand hit ten.

On his way home he stopped to get a box of chocolate, jar of pickles, and a large lollipop. He drove past the tall buildings and far past the suburbs. As he left the city, the rain fell down harder. He drove till he was surrounded by thick trees. He took a left onto a dirt road. With memory he dodged the large puddles with ease before turning right through the fork in the road. When he pulled up to the small blue house. He parked next to the barn.
