Daisy walked slowly as she approached the bar. In the dark abyss it was the only thing that she could see. Her feet stumbled as the ground beneath her was uneven and unseen. The bar seemed to be floating like a boat, being held by an anchor in it place. Just as Daisy reached for the door handle, the door opened on its own. Warmth and strange music flowed past her out into the echoing darkness. With the hair standing on her neck, she hustled in and shut the door behind her.
She sighed of relief once she was inside. She looked out from the safety of the bar into the darkness. After a long look out the window, she took a relived sigh and turned around with her eyes scanning the interior. When her eyes landed on a man hunched over at the bar, she tightened her face.
"Mark?"
"Long time no see." Mark turned the tall chair he sat in towards her. "I guess he finally got you too?"
Daisy walked forward to him. "Where are we?"
Mark turned back and waved at the faceless bartender, "Somewhere between the living and the afterlife is my guess."
She stopped when she saw the bartender. His head was tilted to her as it poured Mark a glass of strange neon liquid. His skin was stretched over his features. The skin that stretched over his mouth seemed to pull in and out as it breathed.
"Don't mind him. Just be polite and hell serve you something to drink."
Daisy stepped forward and took a seat next to him. She stood straight with her arms in front of her on the bar.
"What is there to drink?"
"I'm never able to ask him for anything specific. Just wave your hand to get his attention and hell make you something."
"What if I dont like it?"
Mark chuckled softly, "You'll like it."
Daisy listened to Mark and waved her hand. She didnt want to speak to the strange being and luckily she didnt have to. He quickly starting mixing many unlabeled bottles into a large glass before shaking it. When it was set in front of her the man set cut strawberry on top. She reached out her hand and looked at the muddy liquid inside.
"It looks like sewer shit, honestly."
She brought the drink up to her lips and sipped the smallest bit. Then she tilted the glass up to take a longer drink. She pulled the glass away with a sigh and set the drink back down on the bar.
"Good?"
Daisy nodded. She couldn't help it and bring the glass up to her lips again. "I cant belive Im dead."
"You should have known what would happen when you dragged him down to your basement."
"How do you know about that?"
Mark leaned back in his chair, "Vex comes here to drink with me sometimes. He did it quite a lot when you had him. He didnt give me very much details beyond that, but I could tell he was livid." He shifted his gaze to her, "Where are Vex and Lia now?"
Daisy tightened her face as she grabbed her cup and sipped more from it. "Hopefully, Vex is dead and Lia is under ownership of one of my buyers."
She slammed the cup on the bar. The liquid sloshed, creating a small mess on the surface and her hand. Her rising anger made it easier to ignore the stranger on the other side of the bar as he started cleaning her mess.
"Lia was one of my most expensive products, Mark." She seethed. "I would have had enough to get ahead of the other human trafficker's. Then Vex and his fucking boner had to steal and ruin her."
"You're dead, Daisy. Nothing in life matters down here." He leaned closer to her. "I wish Vex should have killed you sooner. Would have saved us all a lot of trouble."
Daisy brought her face to Marks, "I can still kick your ass here yo-"
They both paused when they heard hissing coming from the bartender. He was shining a glass while looking in their direction. When Daisy and Mark pulled away from eachother, he stopped his hissing and focused back to what was in his hands.
"I fucking hate you."
Mark gesture to the door, "Then go find another ghost bar to sulk in."
Daisy glanced back to the windows for a period. The longer she looked out there the more it made her skin crawl. With a long sigh she pushed her glass aside and waved to the bartender.
