Vex slowly opened his eyes. His vision was blurry and slowly clearing up as he looked slowly turned his head to look around the room. He sighed in relief when he found himself in a hospital room. The sun was dying into a rich hot pink color, it poured its colors into the room. The noxious bright light above him did little to blur our the suns colors.

Vex was about to lean back when he saw James sitting in the corner of the room. He tried to smile, the intermix of pain and numbness that bombarded his have made it hard to move his face at all. He tried to move his arms to get up but felt the restraints wrapped snuggly around his forearms. Rotating his wrist, he felt the bandages.

Leaning back into the bed, he relaxed and let out a long sigh.

"Did I hurt anyone?"

James grew a cold stare, "You killed numerous people in the human trafficking hideout, injured a couple people on your way to my apartment, and sent me and a couple other cops to the hospital."

There was a pause, only the ticking of the clock and the air conditioning was background noise.

"Never seen you care about the people you hurt."

Vex adjusted himself so he could see James better, "I usually don't care when I'm the one in control."

James shrugged his shoulders, "True." He looked to Vex again, with the same stare, "Lia is missing."

"You never seem to be able to do your job."

James growled and stood up, "I was too busy keeping your from shredding your fucking wendigo!" He walked over and leaned over Vex.

James was told of Vex's condition, but to see it in person was different. Vex was withered away, his body was deteriorated to skin and bones. His bandages around his face and neck were slowly bleeding through. His missing eyes was patched over. His hands looked liked they were about to fall off from the amount of lacerations around his wrist. There was a wheezing sound as Vex breathed in and out. Despite how shitty he looked, James could see the mischievous glint in his one eye.

"How is Damian?"

Vex wheezed in a long breathe before he replied. He pulled on his restraint, wanting to rub his chest where Damian was hiding, "He's doing better than I am."

"I hope either of you have any idea where Lia could be."

Vex nodded, "I don't know where she is, but I know how to find her."

James huffed, getting impatient, "Care to share?"

This time Vex tried with all his might. His cheeks screamed in pain but his smile could only grow wider when he saw James face grow red. "No." He pointed to James weakly with his finger, "And if you think you can make me talk, you're out of luck." Vex wheezed for air again, "Whatever method you have to make me talk is pussy shit compared to what Daisy did to me."

James leaned over Vex. Vex was pleased with the reaction he got from James. He could see his wolf wanting to come out.

"Would Lia still love you if she knew you were the one who took her to that horrid place in the beginning, way before any of this happened?" James was next to grin as he pulled away from Vex. "How'd do you think she'd react knowing you traded her for money?"

Vex's smile diminished.

James smirked as he left the room. "I'll be here tomorrow. Maybe its time you started thinking about what's right for Lia and not what's right for you." With that James left his hospital room, flipping off the lights on his way out.

Vex stared at the ceiling. He could feel Damian squirming inside his chest. He watched as the sunset died into darkness.

He clenched his fists and grinded his teeth.

This is what Lia must feel, to feel weak and have no control. His body already starting to heal, but he wanted to take this moment and remember it. Vex wanted this feeling of helplessness and frustration to be burned into his brain.

When he heals he must find Lia and end this whole charade. He knows neither of them can take this anymore. He can't fail Lia again; neither of them would be able to go through this again.

Damian purred in his chest, feeding off of Vex's growing determination.
