"Good morning."
Lia pulled her face out of the book she was reading to look up to James. Its been four days since she first got here. Kept in the apartment and bored out of her mind, she starting reading all the books that James and Bella kept on a shelf near their flat screen tv. Most of them were old text books both James and Bella had collected through college and haven't gotten to getting rid of them yet. Some Lia were familiar with for years before, James old collection of mysteries and murders genres. Bella's seemed more interested in cheesy, lighthearted romances.
"Good morning." Lia replied softly. Her scratchy morning voice was still coming through.
She hasn't been around them both enough to make an accurate guess, but despite Lia's previous impressions on Bella, Bella did love James like the lovers in the books she had on the shelf. It was strange being used to seeing her rough around the edges then to be complete opposite when she was with James. She acted like everything James did for her was precious, not matter how little. She never verbally said it, but Lia could see it in her eyes.
Lia almost saw herself in Bella, the worry if she was good enough. She could see Bella change when James was in a bad mood or had a rough day at work. It was hard to see it, James is completely oblivious to it, but Bella would try to provide for his every need till he was better.
She wish she had the guts to talk to Bella. Lia knows that James can sometimes struggle to pick up cues. Lia also knew that their relationship is still young and needs to work out its kinks. But Lia had a feeling Bella didn't know exactly how much James loves her.
Lia stopped in her thoughts. She has never really considered how her and Vex's relationship was still young, younger than James's and Bella's. What small kinks have they yet to work through?
Lia took a deep breath. She didn't want to think about it. She may never have the chance to see Vex again.
Bella had already left for work earlier, so it was just them in the apartment. Lia didn't really think much of it when she was alone with James. It was the opposite when she was alone with Bella, which was most of the time. They didn't get along real well in the pass so Lia didn't know if Bella wanted to be her friend or if she wanted Lia to stay away from her. Bella is more kind to her than before. Lia appreciated that.
"Did you have breakfast yet?"
Lia nodded, "I had cereal."
Lia followed James with her eyes as he walked into the kitchen, most likely getting his own breakfast.
James was dressed in his usual clothes. He always seemed properly dressed, he's barely ever seen in pajamas or any loose fitted clothing. Lia always wondered if he ever got uncomfortable wearing such formal clothing all the time. Lia didn't really have a place to say anything about James clothing; she is once again homeless with no job or money.
She didn't want to think about that.
"Well," James sighed as he closed the fridge. "There ain't much to eat." He looked over to Lia. He was acting a little off. "Are you still hungry?"
Lia shrugged her shoulders, "I am feeling snacky."
"Wanna go somewhere to eat?"
Lia closed the book and set it on the coffee table, "You don't have work today?"
James glanced away, "I wanted to give you time before I started asking you some questions related to the case." He stood there awkwardly with his hands in his pockets.
Lia's stomach twisted. She knew this would come up sinner or later. It will be strange being interrogated by James. Would this be considered an interrogation?
