"Like, Love, Lust"

"Hailey, oh my dear you look wonderful" I say in awe, a huge grin on my face, staring at the beautiful girl who has her hair in waves, a red knee length dress adorning her slender figure. She looks so different than the girl who was here for months, battling cancer.
"Eufy!" She squeals, running into my arms. "Oh my God" she mutters, feeling my bump with her hand.
"Shhh" I place my index finger on my lips, not wanting anyone to know.
"You're expecting" she states rather than ask, but I nod nonetheless.
"Wow, even during the time that I was here? Because you look far gone" I nod again
"Five months" I reply, now realising that I've known Ale for five months. Ale. Why does everything have to be about him?
But five months, did we maybe rush things?
"Love knows no time Eufy, but it does know connection. And the connection you and I have is one I've never experienced before. That is why I'm willing to be with you and be a father to this child"
I remember his words all of a sudden. Love knows no time. Truly it doesn't, because it didn't take long for me to fall in love with him, and it didn't take long for me to have my heart broken. Again.
"Hey, are you okay?" Hailey says, snapping me out of my thoughts, making me realise that she's still here.
"Oh yes" I clear my throat to get rid of the shaky voice I have, "I'm fine"
"I came here the last time but Monse said you weren't checked in yet"
"Yes. I wasn't around. You look so beautiful Hailey, not that you always weren't, but I'm glad you're okay now"
"Me too Eufy. Me too. The day I stepped out of the hospital, it was like a foreign world because I had been admitted here for so long"
"But now you're used to it I guess?"
"Of course. It doesn't take long to get used to" she smiles "I just wanted to come and say thank you for helping me out here when I needed it the most. You always gave me the most encouraging words I didn't know I needed. And I'm very grateful, because that pushed me to get better" she says, tears stinging her eyes.
"Oh Hailey, don't make a mother cry already" I say and we chuckle, tears in my eyes now too "Being there for you was one of my favourite things to do each time I came to work. I'm glad I met you, and I hope you have a wonderful life out there, and always be strong as you were when here" I say and pull her in for a hug
"Here, I brought you this" she says, handing me a small gift bag I didn't know she was holding until now.
"Awww you didn't have to" I chuckle, looking into it to find various sweets and a pack of Fero Rocher Chocolates "It's like you knew what a pregnant woman was craving for" I grin
"I guess not only mothers have an intuition" I laugh
"Thank you, Hailey"
