"To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no other pearl to be found in the dark folds of life."

-Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

*~*~*

"Oh my gosh I am so sorry" the lady who bumped into me says, picking back up for me the cereal that dropped from my hands.

"It's okay." I say softly, reaching for three bottle jars of baby food. I figured it's time I do the shopping even though I'm almost two months in, which is early. It's time I allowed and helped myself get used to all of this. The easier I get used to it, the better for me. Besides, if I don't help myself, no one will.

"You're expecting?" The lady asks again, finally prompting me to realise that she never left.

"Yes, I am" I say, turning back to look at the different types of milk. I choose one box of Almond Milk and three boxes of Even full cream milk.

She glances at my ring finger, and I see the judgemental look on her face.

"Not everyone gets married before getting pregnant these days" I say, staring at her squarely.

"I'm sorry if I made it seem like I'm judging you with my look, is just that I haven't been here for long, and where I come from, women mostly get married before having children. At least that's how I was trained" she says softly, looking embarrassed.

"Oh okay" I pause "Where do you come from?"

"France" she says, her eyes lighting up. She's beautiful. Caramel hair that reaches mid-back, rose coloured lips, thick eyebrows, slender jaw, pointed nose and hazel eyes.
"I'm Eulalie" she introduces.

Eulalie. That literally spells out I am French.

"Eufy-Loviette Johnson"

"I hope we can be friends? I'm sorry if I'm being a bit impulsive, but I just moved here like I said and I need someone to show me around and all..."

"So you want me to be your friend just so I can be your tour guide?" I ask with a straight face.

"Oh no! No no no, I'm sorry that's not what-

"It's okay. I'm just messing with you" I chuckle and she blows out a breath of relief. "Join me finish my shopping?"

"You don't even have to ask!" She squeals, agreeing immediately.

I come back from grocery shopping, my Sunday having been productive for the first time in a while. The whole week is a bit tough and Sunday is the only day I get to relax, although, I decided to go out today.

I wash my hands and arrange the stuff I bought back in the cupboards to fill the empty spaces. I was paid on Friday, and I really don't need much. So I bought these, deposited into my bank account and kept the rest. I think I've been reasonable with my salary.

A knock on my door stops me short on my arranging, and I look at the door quizzically. I have told Ale so many times not to bother knocking, it's ridiculous.
