"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage"

-Lao Tzu

*~*~*

It's finally Monday. The day I start my internship. I wake up early and get ready, since it's quite the long drive. 45 minutes tops. I have figured that at some point I will have to move on with my life and treat this as one of those bumps in the road, and get on with it. I still have a whole life ahead of me, and if not anything, I should at least be able to manage.

I get dressed in a simple yet professional outfit. I look at myself in the mirror, something I haven't been able to do for a while, and smile at the person I am. A person that I'm so very proud of for getting this far. If I don't acknowledge myself, no one else will. I walk to my kitchen and make a simple breakfast. A mug of coffee and toasts.

Within five minutes I'm out of the house and on the road. Hoping for my first day to be a blast.

Arriving there, I look up at the tall building standing infront of me. Feeling proud of myself at how far I've come.

Hey dad, I made it!

Entering the hospital, I walk to the receptionist.

"Hello. Goodmorning. I'm Ms Johnson. Here to begin my internship." I say to the woman sitting behind the desk

"Ah! Ms Johnson. We have been awaiting your presence. Please take that elevator to second floor. There's a receptionist there to assist you." She says

I give her a small smile and a thankful nod.

Stepping out of the elevator, I'm about to walk to the receptionist when a woman, probably one of the doctors here, comes up to me and starts talking

"You're Helena. Right? What took you so long? We told you to be here at seven. Don't bother. There's a patience in room 307. When you go, give her her medicine and then you get her food. In thirty minutes you give her the same dose of the medicine. I'm heading into a surgery. I'll be back in three hours. If anything go to my office to ask for help. Chop Chop! There's no time for slow feet" she says and walks away, not even waiting for me to speak

Okay? All I asked for was just one day of normalcy.

I just shrug it off and go to room 307, meeting the patient that I was suppose to diagnose.

"Hello. I'm Ms. Eufy-Loviette Johnson. But you can call me Eufy. I'm here to give you your medicine."

"Hello" the young girl in the bed says timidly, probably about seventeen years of age

"Where's Dr. Greenleaf?" She asks, probably the name to the doctor who gave me this task

"Oh. She has gone for surgery and said I should look after you till she comes back"

"I've never seen you here before" she states

Must be the keen observer type.

"Today is my first day here. Dr. Greenleaf mistook me for someone else and gave me this task" I say with a small smile

"She tends to do that a lot when she's nervous. She rants on and on and on. She'll apologize profusely when she comes to realise that you're not her assistant and she ordered you around like that" she says with a small chuckle
