2 Weeks Later
"Eufy, you really need to stop over-working yourself. I know it's the only way to forget him and what he did. But seriously babes, you need to think about you and your baby too" Monse says, placing her hand on mine.
I sigh, before looking at her, "I know. I know. It's just so painful, you know? I can't seem to get over it. I don't know why. It's been two weeks Monse. Two weeks, what exactly am I still crying over?" I ask with an eye roll, angry that I still allow this to get to me.
"Eufy it has just been two weeks. And everyone handles breakup differently. But you are not alone anymore"
"I know. I know. I'm being stupid" I say, wiping my tears
"Come here" she says, pulling me into her arms.
"I'm going to soak your work clothes." I chuckle, pulling away.
"That's okay" she chuckles "Let's go. Our shift is over anyway" she says and together, we leave the hospital bathroom.
"How about this? We go to your place, order pizza and eat some ice cream?" Monse asks, as we walk to my car.
"That would be great. But wait, isn't it going to bother you?"
"Pfft, no. I don't have any man waiting for me anyway" she giggles
"Come to think of it, you've never spoken of a relationship"
"Because I've never had any"
"You're joking right?" I ask her and she shakes her head "All your life?"
"All my life. I just felt like first things first. School, get myself something doing, achieve something for myself, graduate, before I have to worry about men you know? I just didn't want the distraction"
"I understand that. Very well. And I think it was a good decision if you ask me. But you are ready now aren't you?"
"Yup" she says, popping the 'p', "But unfortunately I've found myself in a mess"
I turn to look at her when we stop at a red light, "What mess?"
"I'm kind of into my bestfriend, who's a male by the way"
"So? Let him know"
"It's not that easy. He has a girlfriend, but sometimes even though he's in a relationship he makes me feel like he's into me too"
"Then he's a dick. Men like that just try to play with your feelings. Why is he making you feel things if he has a girlfriend?"
"Maybe he's not doing it on purpose?" She asks and I sigh
"I will only tell you to go for it when he doesn't have any girlfriend and when he tells you point blank that he likes you and wants something with you"
"I get it"
"You haven't waited all these years not having a relationship just to get yourself in check only for your first relationship to be a scam"
