"Ready?"
"Ready" she nodded back.
She took a deep breath in and grasped the bar of the trolley so tight her knuckles turned white, as Cedric lead her through to the 9 3/4 platform. She pushed the trolley along the crowds huddled beside the grand Hogwarts Express, the platform was breathtaking it was bustling with life as the train glistened in the sunlight. Her parents hadn't told her anything about Hogwarts par from the houses they were in.
She noticed three familiars faces smiling at her through one of the compartment windows one in particular pushed up against the glass, waving at her to come in. Grabbing Rolo the owl off the trolley, she bid farewell to Cedric promising to meet him at school and jumped onboard the train. It smelt of sweets, with the sound of laughter echoed along the carriages, Eleanor had hardly step foot in the compartment before Hermione pounced on her with open arms, dragging her in.
"The boys have been driving me insane, asking me when you'd arrive." She said pulling Eleanor into the empty seat next to her as the train pulled out the station.
"We have not!" Ron protested turning to look out the window. He wiped away the smudge of his face that remained imprinted on the glass with his sleeve.
Harry rolled his eyes, "Ron we all know you're lying, you've been none stop about when Eleanors gonna arrive."
"Ah Ronnie, you're so cute" she teased, causing him to turn as red as a beetroot.
Ron pulled the strings down on his hoodie so only his nose was revealed, "Screw the lot of you!" He mumbled as the rest giggled.
Eleanor spent the rest of the journey eating the many sweets she'd brought off the trolley as the others placed bets on what house she'd be sorted into. Ron bet all his money on Hufflepuff.
As the train pulled into the station, she parted way with the trio to join the first years and a part-giant man who introduced himself as Hagrid, he happened to be gamekeeper and Eleanors Care of Magical Creatures Professor. He lead them across the lake on small boats and then through the castle grounds toward the Great Hall entrance, where they were introduced to head of Gryffindor House, Professor McGonagall.
"Let's get this shit over with" Eleanor whispered to herself, tugging on the sleeve of her robe as she made her way to the back of the group.
As the doors opened to the hall, all eyes turned to stare at them as the conversations died down. Eleanor kept her head down to hide from the stares people were casting at her as she passed them, she must have stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the first years. Although half way down the hall she spotted Fred and George sitting along the Gryffindor table dramatically waving at her with cheesy grins on their faces, bloody bastards knew this would only add to the embarrassment she was feeling.
"Eleanor Gray!"
Snapping her head back up she looked round to see everyone looking back at her. She clenched her hands and stepped up to take a seat on the stool next to Professor McGonagall, who placed the sorting hat down on her head.
"Ahhhhh, I was waiting on the day I'd sort a Gray!" The hat said, " What's it going to be.."
"It could be Ravenclaw..."
Her hands were now clammy, from holding then so tight at her sides, as she tried to steady her breathing. In and out slowly.
"SLYTHERIN" it screamed as the whole table burst into roars.
Hopping off the chair, she made her way over to the table, where the only free seat was surrounded by a group of fourth years, one being a boy with platinum blonde hair and a piercing stare. She swallowed her pride and made her way over to the bench, everyone congratulating her as she passed them. As she reached it they all turned to face her, she pulled a weak smile, "Hi" was all she could manage.
