It was the morning of the first task, Eleanor woke and instantly made her way toward the bathroom. Both Pansy and Daphne were starting to stir as she shut the door, she strips and hops into the shower running her hands through her long hair brushing through the tangles with her fingers.
When she emerged they were both dressed and waiting on her, she grabbed a scarf wrapping it round her neck resting it on an old jumper as they left the dorm.
"Come on, come on! I wanna get going!" Theo said, clapping his hands at the girls as they entered the common room.
"Theo calm the fuck down." Draco growls emerging from behind him, dressed in all black.
Theo turned to look at him and flares his nostrils. "Are you always this grumpy or do you do it just to annoy me?"
Draco scowls, "You do not mean that much to me."
"We're wasting time let's go!" Pansy snaps, heading towards the entrance as Draco stormed out after her.
Eleanor stayed quiet for the walk toward the stadium, she felt too sick to talk and would much prefer to listen to the others argue over who they believe will win.
Other students surrounded them as they walked down, she spotted Cho Chang, the girl Cedric has seemed to take a liking to recently as he'd none stop talk about her on their weekly meetings up the Astronomy Tower. They were definitely more than friends, Eleanor rather thought he was starting to get a small crush on her.
The group reached the stadium and started to ascend the stairs towards the seats, Eleanor looked down catching a glimpse of Hermione sneaking down the back path leading toward the champion tents. What was she doing?
"I'll catch you guys up." Eleanor shouted to them, as she descended the steps. She turned to the entryway of the path instantly proceeding to follow Hermione down the small grass trail.
When she arrived she caught her peering between the gap in the tent, "Mione, what are you doing?"
"Merlin Eleanor, you scared me! I'm wishing Harry good luck." She replied letting go of the tent and stepping backwards.
"Well you're not gonna do that from out here, come on." Eleanor said, poking her head through the gap.
"Eleanor! Eleanor, what are you doing!" Hermione whispers, as Eleanor walks through the gap and into the champions tent.
She made her way across the tent until she found Cedric sitting at the foot of his day bed bitting the side of his thumb.
"Ella what are you doing here?" Cedric softly asks, pulling her into a hug once he realised her presence.
She rubbed her hand on his back, patting a few times. "I came to wish you good luck obviously."
He let go and bites down on his thumb once more, "I don't know if I can do this."
"No don't say that, you got this! You worked hard! Have some confidence cause I'm really shitting it for you." She said in a attempt to calm his nerves, as she pulled his hand from his mouth.
A flash of light covered the tent almost blinding everyone in it, followed by a unfamiliar squeaky voice. It drew their attention towards Harry and Hermione who jumped out of each others arms, looking rather embarrassed.
Rita Skeeter appeared with a young photographer trailing behind her, "Ah young love! How adorable. If anything goes unfortunate today you two might make the front page." she cooed, a fake smile drawn across her face. Eleanor made her way beside Hermione, grabbing onto her wrist.
"You have no business here, this tent is for champions and friends!" Viktor says in his thick accent. He glanced to Hermione, nodding his head at her to see if she's okay.
"He's a keeper Mione." Eleanor whispers in her ear, earning a glare in response.
"No matter, I already got what I wanted." Rita said smugly looking him up and down with a sneer before turning to exiting the tent.
"Good day champions!" Dumbledore cheered entering the tent with Barty Crouch and the other school leaders. "Gather round please, now the moment we've waited and wondered for but alas the moment as arrived!" He said wrapping his arm around Eleanors and Hermiones shoulders squeezing them tight. "The moment the four of you can fully appreciata-
He looked down at Eleanor, who was looking up at him with an awkward smile. Then down at Hermione. He flicked his head back and forth between the two girls. "What are you doing here miss Granger? Miss Gray?"
"Oh sorry we were.. we were.."
"We were just leaving" Eleanor said, giving Cedric a small wave good luck before she turned to the exit of the tent with Hermione not far behind.
Once back at the stands Eleanor found the Slytherins at the top row, she manoeuvred her way through the groups of students till she reached her friends. The sound of a cannon echos through the fields meaning the games had officially begun.
"You're just in time!" Daphne shouts throwing her arms around Eleanors shoulders, so she could get a better view.
Cedric emerged a few moment later his wand tightly gripped in his hand, the stands immediately fell silent waiting on his first move. It was nerve wrecking to watch. He stepped forward as the dragon, the Swedish short-snout, swung it's tale his way narrowly missing Cedrics head. The crowd 'ohh' as he ran from the small cave taking cover behind a boulder as the short-snout followed not far behind blasting fire at the boulder.
"Come on Cedric." Eleanor whispers to herself as she bites down on her thumb, he hadn't made a move for a few minutes.
From the crowd she could see him slightly peer his face round the edge of the rock, they had been tasked to retrieve a golden egg which the dragon is keeping guard of. The dragon releases another fire ball blasting it at the boulder, the heat radiates onto the crowd making many people cover their eyes.
Cedric spins his wand round with his hand casting a spell into the arena. A shaggy large dog appeared out the tip of his wand, the greyhound ran past the boulder towards the dragon taking its attention away from Cedric. This was his moment.
Eleanor sucked in her breath as she watched him bolt out from behind the boulder and sprint towards the egg. The crowd was silent as he wrapped his hands around the golden crust, holding it tight against his chest. He's done it.
Her heart stopped. "Cedric!" She screamed as she saw her best friend go up in flames. He staggered through the entry disappearing into the champions tent, as the dragon roared flying to the other side of the arena.
"Oh my christ! Cedric." She pushed off the railing, swerving herself in and out of students until she reached the stairway.
She raced down the small path, pushing the gap in the tent aside she stepped through frantically looking round.
"Where is he?" She desperately asked Harry as he appeared from one of the day beds.
He pointed to the bed which had its privacy curtain pulled across. She quickly wished Harry good luck and tiptoed over as another canon shot out signifying it was Fleurs turn to face her task.
"Cedric?"
"Ella?" The croakily called.
She poked her head into the cornered off room, Cedric sat up in the day bed he was shirtless with cream plastered over his torso and left side of his face.
"What happened! Are you okay?" She rushed to his side dropping down on her knees.
"I'm okay but they sting like hell." He said inspecting his abs with his finger. "Pomfrey rubbed this cream on the burns, they'll heal just fine."
"I told you the tournament was dangerous and now look at you!" She should have never let him go through with it.
"I'm fine, the damage isn't permanent. But look at this!" He cheered leaning over the side of the bed. "Duh dahhh!" He held the golden egg up in his hand with a cheeky grin on his face.
Eleanor pushed herself up to perch on the edge of his bed, she looked over to him. Merlin she's going to kill him herself if he's not careful.
