Eleanor sat on the little stone bench overlooking the Black Lake till the sun started to set. She didn't know how long she'd been out there for reading her new book whilst the world ticked past her.
She only knew that this was the first time this week she had a moment to herself, a chance to relax and unwind from the constant buzz. Looking up at the sky it was clear she'd missed supper and she wouldn't have time to grab something from the kitchen before she had to meet Cedric. Eleanor huffed dropping her book into her bag and trudged up the hill toward the Astronomy Tower.
By the time she got to the top of the tower the sky was a deep black, with the sound of someone softly talking from behind the pillar made her come to a stand still. That was odd, she thought.
Eleanor peered her face round to only see Cedric, he was leaning over the railing tilting his head toward the sky.
She quietly strolled over and placed a hand on his back, "Hey. I thought I heard voices."
He took his hands away from the metal bar and rubbed them down his trousers, "Sorry, I was er.. talking to mum." He mumbled not meeting her eye contact.
Eleanor leaned her head against his shoulder, he always got upset talking about his mum. "So which one is she?"
"You see that star, the really bright one by its self in the sky. That's her." He said pointing up to the sky.
Eleanor sadly smiled up at the stars through her thick eyelashes, she was the brightest one around. "She's beautiful."
"She is and one day I'm going to join her up here."
Eleanor rubbed her hand up and down his side, "You don't need to be thinking like that, not yet." She softly replied as she sat down on the stone. "Come sit." She patted.
Cedric sat next to her brushing his hand through his 'quiff', "Did you hear about Crouch?"
"No? What's happened." Eleanor questioned flicking a stone across the ground, hearing it pat along the thick slab.
"How haven't you heard yet. Where have you been all day?"
"I went down to the Black Lake after lessons. What happened?"
"Hagrid and the trio found him dead in the forbidden forest, they believe their was foul play involved." He said with a worried tone to his voice.
"Wait what! Do they know who did it?"
"Ugh obviously not! Dumbledore and Fudge are totally freaking out, they're trying to keep it under the wraps until they have more information." He declared flicking the stone Eleanor was playing with along the floor.
"Well shit"
"Tell me about it. Anyways I have some other news." He smiled smugly down at her.
His tone was too rather quick in changing.
Eleanor watched him drag his tongue across his teeth as he waited on her response. "You didn't!" She screamed shaking him on the shoulders as he laughed, "You and Cho finally consummated the relationship eh!"
"Ugh do you have to." Cedric said in disgust, "But if you mean sex then yes, yes we did!" He shouted pulling her into a hug.
Eleanor squirmed on the floor whilst in his grasp, "I'm glad you guys are getting serious, but I need no further details."
"I feel like this is different from the others, shes different."
"Feel as though the L word might come round hmm." Eleanor wiggled her eyebrows at him.
