Eleanor opened her eyes, the room was still dark and she could hear muffled snores coming from Pansys bed, turning over she saw it was only 6:34 in the morning. There's no point in trying to go back to sleep now she thought, swinging her feet over the side of the bed. She grabbed her robes off the chair and headed towards the bathroom, the soft click of the door indicated it was alright to light up the room.
Looking at her self in the mirror was a mistake. Her hair resembled a lions mane and under her eyes hung dark circles, Eleanor decided to get ready making sure to avoid the mirror. After pulling on her Slytherin robes and trying her best to tame her hair, she left the bathroom slipping her wand in her pocket on the way out.
After walking through empty corridors that were eerily quiet she made it to the great hall, where only a few students were littered along the benches having breakfast. She looked over to the Slytherin table where she saw Draco, sipping on a black coffee as he read the Daily Prophet, she decided to make her way over to him.
"You're keen aren't you Gray." He said, without looking up at her.
She sat opposite him and took out a piece of toast buttering it. "I couldn't sleep, you?"
He folded the paper in half, looking up at her. "I like an early start to my morning" He swiftly replied.
"It's quite beautiful this time of morning." She said studying the hall as the sunrise peeked through the windows.
"Whatever you say." He breathed out, taking a last sip of coffee and standing up. "You're timetables next you by the way, seems likr we're going to be spending a lot of time together." He slips the paper under his arm and strolls out the hall.
Eleanor picks up the piece of paper and studies it, double deference against the dark arts followed by care of magical creatures and potions. She internally groaned and slumped her head on the table.
"Someone have a rough night?" A voice says from beside her. She turns her head to see Blaise had slid into the seat next to her with Theo and another boy sat opposite. "This is Terrence by the way, Terrence meet Miss Eleanor Gray" He said.
Lifting her head off her table she's greeted by a light brown haired boy with blue eyes smiling down at her. "Hello." she said tucking a stand of hair behind her ear. He looked friendly.
"Looking forward you your first day?" He kindly asks taking a sip from his glass.
"Mixed feelings"
"Ah you have to be taking the piss, double defence against the dark arts on a Monday morning!" Theo whined, chucking the paper down on the table.
Blaise bit down on his croissant. "I'm more worried about what we're gonna get this time, it can't be any worse than Quirrell."
Eleanor placed her drink on the table and furrowed her brows, "What happened with Quirrell?"
"Well let's just say he had a double personality." Blaise sniggered.
Students gradually started to file into the hall until it was nearly full and brimming it laughter. Eleanor tried looking around the room in search for Cedric or the trio but neither were there, she frowned deciding to try and find them later. Pansy and Daphne finally joined them round the table at 8:20 both pouring themselves large cups of coffee and grabbing a piece of toast, whilst discussing their timetables.
"Coming Gray?" Blaise asked stepping over the bench and offering her a hand.
She nodded, taking his hand as she climbed over the bench, as did Theo and Terrence, although only 14 years old all the boys were closing in on 6ft and were giants over everyone they walked past including Eleanor.
