Another chunk of rubble falls to the floor as the crane dives into the pile. The small sign that reads Shady Acres Care Home now lies on top of the pile of rubble and bricks in the middle of the street. People hurry past as Loki and I stand, staring at the place the care home once stood. The dark black suit that I wore earlier has now been replaced by a skintight dress and heels. My sunglasses lie on the top of my head, preventing my hair from falling into my eyes.
"Well this is just spectacular." I mumble as I cross my arms and roll my eyes. I turn to Loki who is now wearing a full black Gucci suit. When I said we needed to blend in, I didn't mean burglar mode. And I didn't mean that he had to wear designer clothes either. He senses my gaze on him and turns to look at me. I raise my eyebrows and tap my foot as I wait for him to explain what happened.
"I swear I left him right here." he says nodding his head as he turns to look at the wreck once again. I follow his gaze and watch as builders scurry around the wreck, picking up bricks and throwing them to the side. Well unless Odin's one of the builders or the rubble, I don't think he's here anymore.
"What great planning Loki." I say as I shake my head, completely disappointed by the outcome of our trip. Our one aim was to find Odin and what happens? We find a pile of rubble where he was and no sign of him. Loki turns to me as I sigh, sensing my disappointment.
"How was I supposed to know?" he argues, uncrossing his arms as he turns his whole body to face me. His signature smirk is plastered on his face as a mischievous glint invades his eyes. "I'm not a witch, I can't see into the future." He raises his eyebrows, challenging me to come up with a counter argument. I pause for a second, trying to think of something that would really insult him. Then suddenly, it pops into my head. His clothes! He's always worried about the way he looks so if I insult his clothes, that will really shock him. And it'll teach him a lesson for suggesting I'm a witch.
"And yet you still dress like one." I say, a smirk tugging at the corners of my lips as his eyes widen. He looks down at his clothes, checking he looks okay before looking back up at me, his eyes full of fury. I bite my lip, trying my hardest not to laugh as he glares daggers at me. If looks could kill, I'd be in Hell right now.
"Hey, that was low even for you." he complains as he straightens out his clothes, checking them once again. I nudge him playfully to let him know I was only joking before turning back to the wreck and being serious again.
"I knew I should've just dealt with Odin myself." I mutter as I step closer to the wreck and bend down, looking around for any sign that Odin was actually here. He must have left something. Loki rolls his eyes at my comment as he comes closer, standing near me. "At least tell me you know where he is." I say as I stand up and look at Loki.
He looks down at the floor, shuffling his feet and biting the inside of his lip. "I do not."
"Of course you don't." I sigh as I turn away from Loki, rolling my eyes. "You never do." I mutter under my breath.
"What did you just say?" asks Loki, raising his eyebrows as he looks at me.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing." I chuckle as I move to the other side of the building, searching here for clues just as I did the other side. There's got to be something here, some sign that will tell us where Odin is.
"Erm... Abi." I look up to see Loki stood still with his arms out. A glowing circle has formed on the ground beneath him and it keeps growing brighter. I stand up, slowly walking towards the circle on the ground. Loki looks at me, waiting for me to help him. Adrenaline pumps through my veins as my heart knocks against my chest. When I reach Loki, I sigh as I roll my eyes. I know what this is. The panic leaves my body as I take a deep breath.
"Not again." I murmur as I step away from Loki, no longer worried about the mysterious circle. Loki looks at me, raising his eyebrows as if waiting for an explanation. Well he's not getting one. "I swear if this is who I think it is, I'm going to kill him."
"So am I." The words barely leave his mouth before the ground beneath him disappears and he falls into a black hole. As he goes, he makes a strange sound before the ground reappears and the circle disappears. On the ground, a small card lies where Loki stood.
I bend down to pick it up, mumbling to myself as I do, "Why does he always have to do things the hard way?" The card is blank so I turn it over to find a handwritten address on it. 177A Bleecker St. Yep. It's who I thought it was. Looks like I'm paying an old friend a visit.
