Silence.
Nobody speaks. Nobody moves. Nobody thinks within Baker St. Sunlight shines through the open curtains, raining light down upon the small coffee table and chairs in the centre of the room. Sherlock sits in once chair, cradling a cup of tea in his grasp before taking a small sip. John, who sits opposite him, glances up at Lestrade, who stands in front of the two, the pair heading a glance before their eyes rest upon Sherlock again.
"So..." it's John who finally breaks the silence with a loud sigh. "are we going to talk about it or are we going to sit in silence until Abi comes back and you can talk to her?" Sherlock glances at his partner, frowning slightly and taking another sip of his tea whilst averting his gaze from the pair.
"Don't know why you mean." He shrugs off, a loud laugh coming from Lestrade. As if the great Sherlock Holmes didn't know what they were talking about. He totally did but was avoiding talking about it.
John glances back at Lestrade, raising his eyebrows and rolling them slightly before his gaze returns to Sherlock, whose still avoiding eye contact. "Okay so what about what Mycroft said on the phone yesterday?"
As soon as the words leave John's mouth, Sherlock's head whips around to face h dead in the eye, his own narrowing tightly. "How do you two know about that?" he asks suspiciously, his gaze glancing quickly between the pair ahead of him.
John opens his mouth to say something only to pause with nothing to say. Now he's really gone and put his foot in it. Why did he have to say that? Couldn't he have kept his mouth shut? "Well he spoke to me and Greg about it a couple of times."
"Of course he did." Sherlock sighs, rolling his eyes at his brothers interest in Sherlocks life. You'd have thought that being part of the British government Mycroft would have more to but no, he somehow finds the time to follow Sherlock's every move.
"So is it true?" Lestrads asks enthusiastically, leaning forwards like an overly excited puppy. He'd always loved drama but when it came to Sherlock's it was even better.
"Is what true?"
"Is he?" Lestrade turns to John, his finger pointing briefly at Sherlock with confusion. "Are you being serious?" He asks Sherlock again, turning back to him and shaking his head in disbelief. When Sherlock doesn't move, Lestrade tries again. "Is it true?"
"Of course it is." a voice rings from the door, the three of them turning in panic only to relax once again when they notice it's just Mrs Hudson. Sherlock rolls his eyes at his landlady, taking another sip from his almost empty cup of tea.
"Mrs Hudson please do find something other than my love life to interest you." He pleads with her, his voice locking any emotion whilst he rises from his chair and disappears into the kitchen area, closing the sliding doors behind him.
"I'm just trying to help dear." Mrs Hudson shouts after him, the doors sliding open very briefly as Sherlock pops his head back through and smiles sarcastically.
"Don't."
She nods, placing another tray of tea and biscuits down as well as the days newspaper. Briefly, she glances at the clock which reads 8:04am. "Are you in love with her then?" She asks again, not wanting to drop the exciti NY subject.
"Mrs Hudson!" Sherlock shouts, throwing open the sliding doors and staring at his landlady who jumps at the volume of his voice. He'd not shouted that loudly for a long time. It brought back some rather...negative memories for Mrs Hudson. Of course Sherlock knew this, hence why he sighed and closed his eyes after he'd done it, instantly regretting his decision.
"I'm going. I'm going." Mrs Hudson assures him, quickly making her way out the room and down the stairs towards her flat below theirs. A sigh comes from Sherlock who collapses once again in a chair in the living room. This time though it's the longer one, his legs stretching out as he stares up at the ceiling.
