Wind whips against my face as me and Katniss push our way through the trees in an attempt to escape the careers. Howls come from behind us as we come to an opening, Katniss stopping as she frantically looks around for somewhere to go. My hear hammers in my chest, echoing in my ears as I hear the careers thoughts come closer with every passing step.

"Have you got a plan or are we going to stand around all day?" I ask Katniss, my breath short as my eyes scan the forest behind us.

"Shut up!" She snaps, her head whipping around as a branch breaks behind us. "I'm thinking." They're getting closer. My heart rises into my throat as my pupils dilate. Spinning on my heel, I push Katniss to the side, scanning the area in front of me for somewhere to hide. A large tree on the far side of the clearing catches my eye as a smirk forms on my face.

"Go up the tree." I demand as I turn to face Katniss. Her eyebrows furrow as she looks at me before looking at the tree I'm pointing at.  Is she really going to question me now? "Just do it." I hiss as she runs to the base of the tree, pulling herself up into the air as the careers burst through the trees, howling.

Looking at the ground, Katniss freezes as she locks eyes with a blonde male stood apart from the rest of the group. "Peeta." she whispers as she freezes, her eyes widening.

"Hurry up and don't look down." I demand as she begins climbing again and I follow her, not far behind. Still howling up at us, the careers come to the base of the tree as me and Katniss reach a stable branch. "You know, in a different situation, I would probably really like those guys." I comment as I look down at the ground where a career is placing an arrow into her bow.

"Are you actually been serious?" asks Katniss, her voice quiet as she leans her head against the tree, attempting to catch her breath. My eyes stilll fixed on the career with the arrow, I watch as she aims it at Katniss.

"Katniss watch out!" I scream as the arrow comes flying into the air. It narrowly misses Katniss's head, landing in the tree above her as she closes her eyes, her heart pounding. A blonde male, probably the leader of the group, grabs the bow, attempting to send another arrow at Katniss but misses by miles.

"Thanks." whispers Katniss when she finally opens her eyes and looks at me. Shrugging it off, I look back down at the ground where the careers are all stood in a circle, the same blonde male stood apart from the group.

"Why don't we just wait them out?" he suggests, the others turning to him with a confused expression. Shrugging his shoulders, he walks towards the group slowly as he continiues. "They're going to have to come down for food and water at some point so we wait here and get them when they do." Exchanging a glance with the others, the largest male of the group nods.

"Okay, we'll wait them out." he mumbles as he storms off into the bushes. "Get a fire started." he shouts over his shoulder as the others scatter, searching for fire wood. Turning to Katniss, I lean back against the branch, looking at the sky above.

"Well, looks like we're stuck here for a while." I mumble, placing my arms behind my head and closing my eyes as I listen to the rustling of leaves. A buzzing sound catches my attention and my  eyes fly open as I sit up rapidly, almost falling from the branch. Scanning the branchaes above me, I notice a nest full of what look like wasps. "Hey Katniss, what's that?" I ask, my focus on the hive as she sollows my gaze.

"It's a tracker jacker nest." she mumbles as she looks back at the ground beneath us where the careers have now lit a fire and are sat around it. Her head flies up at the same time I look at her, a smirk forming on my face.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" I ask, my eyes dropping to the careers before I look back at the nest. Knowing exactly what I'm thinking, Katniss shakes her head, a small chuckle escaping her lips as she looks back down at the careers.

"You really are a psycho aren't you." she comments as she watches the careers finish eating before laying down. The sun is now low in the sky as the day falls into night, along with the sun.

"I prefer the term being creative." I comment as I look back at the nest, my eyes narrowing as I analyse exactly what will happen. If we drop it at the right angle, it should explode on the ground, releasing the tracker jackers on the careers and in basic terms, killing them. "Are you going to do the honours or am I?" I ask, turning back to Katnis who has already began climbing the tree. "So you call me a psycho but then use my plan?" she nods as she pulls herself up onto the branch below the nest.

"Well, I don't have a better plan so yours it is." she explains as she pulls the knife from her belt and begins sawing at the branch. Small vibrations travel through the branch, causing the tracker jackers to begin attacking Katniss. She cries out in pain, her hand hitting her colar bone as a bug stings her.

"Katniss, are you okay?" I ask cautiously as another shout of pain tears from her throat. Her hand flies to her throat, clawing at her own skin as her hand continues to saw through the branch. "Get down and we'll find another way." I hiss as she shakes her head, continuing, despite my protests.

A sudden crack comes from the branch as it falls to the ground beneath us, smashing to pieces as a swarm of tracker jackers are released into the air. Their eyes flying open, the careers begin screaming as they clutch at their skin, runing from the opening with terror in theri eyes.

"Come on." I say to Katniss as we begin climbing down the tree, "We need to move whilst they're still distracted." Katniss begins climbing down, cautiously at first but quickly picking up speed when sudenly her hand slips causing her to crash to the ground beneath us. Hurrying down the tree, I rush to her side, helping her up only for her to push me away.

"I'm fine." she mumbles as she pulls herself to her feet, wobbling slightly as she does so. "Let's just go." Nodding, I begin running in the opposite direction to the careers, Katniss following behind. After several moments, Katniss stops, collapsing against a treee as she breathes heavily.

"Katniss?" I stop running and turn to her. Her face is pale, her eyes glazed over as sweat drips down her forehead. When she doesn't answer, I step closer to her as she begins to shake, her body bending over as her breathing rate increases. "Don't you even dare think about passing out. I'm not carrying you."

She continues to stare at the ground, her eyes becoming more distant as the seconds pass. Slowly, her body falls away from the tree as she crashes to the gorund, her eyelids sliding closed as she lays, unconscious, in the centre of the forest. Rolling my eyes, I walk across to her, picking her up over my shoulder.

"Or just ignore me and pass out anyway."
