It was dark outside, and everything was quiet in the small town you had been living in. There were no birds chirping, and not a person afoot.
Although it was silent, it was not a peaceful silence. In one of the houses at the edge of town, a woman sat alone at a small table in her kitchen. It wasn't just any woman, in fact, she had been the one to raise you. She said nothing, holding a phone up to her ear. Now, you had always considered your mother to be a very reserved woman, but if you were to be standing by her at that very moment, watching the tears fall down her cheeks as she took it all in, everything you had once thought about her might have changed.
She had just received an update on the search for her daughter, (y/n). Nothing had been found, not a trace of where you had gone, nor an alibi. The police had been looking for a few days now, and your mother had called multiple times each day, praying that somehow you had been found. There was no luck, but the woman did not want to accept the fact that you were most likely gone.
Your mother was worried about you, and she absolutely hated the thought of losing you. The poor woman had barely gotten over the death of her husband, and she didn't want to end up alone for the remainder of her life. She didn't have much left, just an empty house, and a broken family.
"Officer, please! She has to be out there, I just know she is!!" The woman sobbed, resting a shaky hand on the wooden table in front of her. The officer on the other end of the phone said nothing in reply, sighing heavily. He held the phone up to his ear, opening his mouth to give her a repeated answer.
"Mrs. (l/n), I know that you are upset about all of this, but I'll tell you again...Without any proof of where she had been, we cannot say for certain that she is going to be found."
There was only quiet sobbing in response, and the officer didn't hesitate to continue after the slight pause.
"This search is certainly not going to continue for much longer, so the best you can really do is put up posters in town. Hopefully someone will come across your missing daughter, and call you back. I am sorry about your missing daughter, I truly am, but there isn't much else we can do."
After hearing those final words, her sobbing only got worse. The officer suggested that she rest, and try to calm herself down. His advice went right in one ear and out the other, however. There was nothing he could do to make her feel better. The officer was more fortunate, and had never gone through anything that tragic with his own family. He had never endured the burden of losing the ones he cared for, so it was unlikely that he would understand her pain. He bid her farewell, and hung up, leaving her to herself.
She slammed the phone down on the table, taking her head into her hands. You couldn't have just disappeared...There had to be some sort of proof as to where you had gone.
The woman continued to cry, her thoughts dragging her into a past memory...It was a couple of days ago, and you had been with your mother in the kitchen. Everything had been perfectly normal that day, until you had decided to leave the house...
-Flashback-
"Hey mom, I'm gonna walk into town for while. Do you need me to get you anything while I'm out?"
The woman walked into the hallway, turning towards (y/n) to reply. "No, I don't need anything, but don't be out too long. Dinner will be ready in about an hour." (y/n) nodded, opening the front door and leaving the house.
Your mother smiled to herself, walking back into the kitchen to finish preparing dinner. 'I am very grateful to have her, especially now that her father passed...I miss him so much...' She thought to herself, grabbing a pot from one of the cupboards. 'If (y/n) were to leave me too...then I don't know what I'd do with myself...'
The woman had never wasted time thinking about a world where she had lost her daughter.
How ironic It had been...because that was exactly what had happened...
No matter how many hours she waited for you to return, you never came back. Calling the police, she told them everything she knew about when it happened. They didn't give her much to hope for, however...
-End of Flashback-
The days were miserable, and only seemed to get worse. The sad mother glanced down at her phone, her eyes narrowing into an angry glare. She was mad at the police, although none of it was really their fault. She felt as if they were the ones to blame.
"(y/n)...please..." The woman sobbed.
"Where are you!?"
Sorry for the long pause between my last update...I'm not going to let that happen again, I promise. If there is any delay in the future, it won't be for that long.
