"We should probably get moving. We've been here long enough." Bendy suggested, glancing at the remnants of the book in your hand.
You turned your attention to the book as well...This dusty cluster of mangled paper and ink was supposed to be the answer to everything, yet you found yourself wondering why your father was so secretive about all of this to begin with.
"Ok...Let's go..." You replied meekly, sliding the book back onto the shelf and sulking after Bendy as he approached a door sitting in between two larger shelves. The door said, PRIVATE, at the top, with five small lights lit up above it.
Bendy turned to you and frowned at what he saw. He knew why you were acting like this, and it didn't help him cope with being the reason you were in this state. "(y/n)..." You tilted your head up to look at him, your expression unchanging. The ink demon wasn't completely sure what to say to make you feel better; this entire subject wasn't something he'd had to adjust to over the last 3 decades, but he supposed that it had gotten easier over the course of your relationship. "I know it's not ideal to have to let go of things that matter to you, and believe me, I know how that feels...But I hate to see you this way, and grieving will only make it worse."
You listened to his words and looked down at the ground. It was irritating to think that you were so close to figuring things out, just to have it all vanish in an instant. It felt like the entire studio was taunting you. It led you to answers and ripped them out of your hands before you uncovered them, leaving you to the torment and frustration while the walls held back the hysterical snickers of the damned.
"I know..." You sniveled, squeezing your eyes shut in an attempt to hide the small tears building up in the corners of your eyes. Every passing second tore through you, and Bendy could see you falling apart clear as day.
The toon extended an arm towards you and silently offered you comfort, to which you gratefully accepted. Your body couldn't hold back your emotions any longer, and you cried in demon's arms. He felt his frown stretch farther down, pulling you closer to himself and looming his horned head over yours.
"I miss him, Bendy!" You cried, shakily gripping onto his forearm in an effort to make sure he didn't move. He didn't intend on going anywhere, but you weren't thinking about that. Being in the studio may have drowned your memories of the past in the beginning, and when you admitted your love to Bendy, you thought you had moved on...You should have known that some things can resurface after a while.
"I know you do, (y/n)...I know you do..." Bendy cooed, calmly rubbing your back while he waited for your sudden breakdown to subside. "I...I used to know your father quite well. I guess you could say that we were friends..." He let out a small laugh, both with guilt and nervousness. You were certainly the only one able to make him feel this guilty about killing a man in his life.
Each tear that he wiped from your face sunk his heart down lower and lower, and he knew that he needed to let go of his own past in order to help you get through yours. He couldn't spend his days dwelling on what he had gone through, not while you suffered with the one, major trauma that the toon himself had created. Listening to you explain your life to him in the maze didn't ease his mind when he thought about what he'd done; there were already problems occuring in your life before then.
You may have been even more broken than he was.
As time ticked away in that room, neither of you had moved an inch. Bendy wasn't rushing you, and you quite frankly didn't want to move. It felt almost unreal to be in his embrace, like it was all one big dream that you'd eventually wake up from.
It wasn't pleasant to admit, but it seemed a lot harder to deal with days like these back home. Your mother was there, but she couldn't exactly help you in the way that Bendy was helping you now. You'd have never known had you not come here, but discovering all of these secrets still hurt.
The ink demon lowered his head down to you, and his patience appeared to be paying off as your sorrow-filled cries quieted down. Your eyes were sore from the turn of events, but you turned your head slightly to meet his gaze, regardless of how you looked at the moment.
Bendy found himself blatantly staring at you, lifting one arm up from around you and grazing his claws against your cheek. How detrimental they were, yet he had learned to control the force he used when he touched you, and they weren't seen as weapons to you anymore after how delicately he used them with you. Anything else in this studio would never meet with the razor ungues in a more pleasant manner.
You lightly smiled at his gesture, feeling better with every passing second. That little smile was all Bendy needed to feel better himself, and his frown slowly curved back upwards into a grin.
"It's not surprising to see me crying again, is it?" You snipped, half joking and the other half being self-loathing.
The ink demon looked taken aback with how much disgust rung out in your tone of voice. "What I find surprising is that you choose to look down on yourself when in a state of weakness. It's okay to cry, it's a part of life." He replied, his once content expression now carrying a look of dismay.
"Just know that I will be here for you every time it happens."
The toon began to slightly panic at the sight of tears forming in your eyes again as you looked at him, and he swiftly went to wipe them away. "W-What's wrong now?" He asked, slightly confused as well as concerned.
Letting out a quiet laugh, you felt your smile grow. "N-Nothing...You're just so sweet.." You spoke between short sniffles. "All the more reason why I love you~"
Bendy lightly chuckled at your response, gently grabbing your chin and kissing your lips.
And I love you too, darling~
