The halls of the sudio were dead silent, and the lack of noise almost made it seem peaceful. In reality, it was nowhere near that. All the lost souls wandering down here were forever forced to live in fear.
Peace was non-existent...Hell, they hardly remembered what the word even meant...
You could feel the dread in the building. It hung around you like the dust in the air, to which you sneezed every once in a while. The dust wasn't much of a bother to you, but for some odd reason you knew about all of the meaning it held. It caused your mind to wander, back to the poor beings whom had lost their sanity here.
How did you know about the souls? Bendy had informed you...but he didn't tell you the whole story. You had been told more about what he called, 'The lost ones', and how most of them had been former workers in the studio.
"They needed to pay for what they did." He had told you. "They deserved every bit of the pain."
The cold and harsh tone of his voice made you shudder as you recalled the memory. Bendy may have explained what they were, but he didn't say anything about why he had done that to them. Sure, he said something about revenge, but what had they done to deserve that?
You didn't think you'd ever find out, to be honest.
Despite all of the horrors playing in your mind, exploring the studio was quite fun. You had to admit, the place was bigger than you had expected. While you explored the new corridors, you always made sure to stay cautious. The Bendy cutouts made you feel a bit better about wandering, but you still didn't want to take any chances.
Without warning, a loud bang filled the hallway from behind you. With a loud yelp, you whipped your body around, expecting to find some sort of mangled creature standing there. To your relief, it was merely a can of bacon soup.
"Shit that thing scared me." You breathed, holding you hand over your heart.
After calming down, a faint growl filled the corridor. Just moments after you slowed your heart rate, a tall and meager silhouette loomed over you. Slowly turning to face the owner of the large shadow, you let out the breath you didn't realise you were holding when the concerned look of a demon came into view.
"Thank the lord, it's just you. What's that face for?"
Bendy crossed his arms, expecting to have gotten a bit of an explanation on why you had screamed.
"Why did you scream?"
You blinked a few times, before sheepishly rubbing the back of your neck with an embarrassed smile. "Oh, A can of soup fell and scared me. Sorry if I worried you."
Bendy facepalmed, "Dammit (y/n)...I thought something had attacked you!" He snapped, his attention quickly being drawn back to one little part of your explanation. "And what makes you so sure that I'm worried?"
You smirked, knowing that he was trying to pull the tough-guy routine on you again. "Come on! If you weren't worried, you wouldn't have come to my aid when I screamed." The ink demon wasn't at all fazed by your response. He knew the game you were trying to play...He knew it a little too well. You and Bendy had gotten a little too comfortable around each other. Now that you had gotten to know a little bit more about him, you knew that he never liked to admit anything to you. "Just admit it. You care about me...even if it's just a little bit."
The toon said nothing for a moment, leaving you to patiently wait for him to accept defeat. He sighed, swinging his arms down at his sides. "Alright, I do care. If you're going to tease me about it, then I won't deny the fact."
You widen your eyes in realisation. You didn't expect him to suddenly get so serious about the topic.
"If you are in danger, then I will help you. I'm not about to let the only company I've had in the last thirty years die on me." He finished, looking down at you with the same concern he had shown earlier. It looked completely genuine, and you smiled at that.
Without giving your mind a chance to second guess your actions, you wrapped your arms around him once more. A faint blush rose to your cheeks, but you didn't care about that at the moment. You embraced him, expecting the demon to freeze up like before. He did not move, and soon you felt his arms wrap around you, returning the embrace.
This only caused your face to heat up even more, and you didn't look up to meet his inky gaze. "You know..." You began, closing your eyes. "For someone who seems cold and mean on the outside, you're surprisingly warm."
Bendy felt his cheeks getting warm, but he didn't say anything. Why was he beginning to feel all of these things? Why did he suddenly begin to care for you? His eyes wandered down to your smaller form, noticing the soft smile on your face.
He didn't feel the need to hide this in order to keep up his ego, he just felt...calm.
"Alright." Bendy chuckled, releasing you from his embrace. "I think that's enough for one day."
You giggled, trying to hide your blush. "Was there any other reason why you came down here, 'Mr. tough guy'?" Bendy thought for a moment, before looking down the end of the hallway. "Actually, I wanted to show you something."
He started walking down the hall, gesturing for you to follow him. You didn't hesitate to walk at his side, the smile from earlier still lingering on your face. Bendy was a little stubborn sometimes, but it was moments like these that caused a weird feeling to arise in your chest.
He really wasn't as cold-hearted as one might expect, and as he lead you through the studio, you couldn't help but notice that his smile was much wider than before.
