"Holy shit." Williams gasped, his eyes glued to the malicious temptress at the top of the stairs.

The angel grinned and made eye contact with him, her hands boldly positioned on her hips. It had been only minutes after she had received some very interesting news from a searcher about where the ink demon and the girl were, and her pleasure was clearly showing on her face.

"My sweet boy~" She cooed teasingly, chuckling at his bewilderment. "Holy is correct."

"Who are you?" Connor asked, his face expressing both confusion and some variety of admiration. He had to admit, she looked like someone right out of a fantasy. The officers were stunned, despite the horror that her face presented on the one side. She appeared very satisfactory to the eye.

"Alice...Alice Angel. It's a pleasure to finally see the both of you face to face."

She crossed one arm over her chest, the other resting on top of it by the elbow and elevating her hand to slide right under her chin. The woman seemed to enjoy the attention she was getting from their glances alone, and didn't object to their staring. "Oh, it's been so long since anyone's ever looked at me like that." The angel sighed.

"Too long since anyone's appreciated me for what I am."

Williams was silent from beside Connor. Every word she said seemed to wrap him in a trance, like a fly caught in a spider web.

"You wanted to offer something, didn't you? A proposition?" Connor broke the brief silence.

"Oh yes." She confirmed. "A simple favor, nothing more. I understand that you came here in search for a girl, did you not?" Alice shook her head lightly to herself after looking at Williams again, as if she was surprised that he was still staring.

"You might need to get your friend in order before I go on. He seems rather...Distracted."

With a huff, Connor turned to his companion, who was indeed still infatuated with Alice. He lifted his hand and snapped his fingers in front of his face a few times, and he finally blinked and looked to him with confusion.

"What is this favor, exactly? And how do you know about that girl?" Connor asked after retrieving Williams focus.

"I...have ways of finding out about these things. Her current situation is exactly what I need the both of you for." Alice continued, her face turning into a hateful snarl as she continued.

"The girl you're looking for has created some complications for me...You see, the ink demon that I mentioned to the both of you; he is with the girl as we speak."

The two cops shuddered at the mention of the ink demon.

"I've been trying to get rid of that hideous thing for years, and I want the two of you to help me do it. In exchange, I'll let the two of you leave with the girl. The lot of you can return to your normal lives on the surface."

The woman nearly laughed as she finished her sentence. It was so hard to keep her composure when all that left her mouth was a lie. Like hell she was gonna give up that girl once the ink demon was taken care of. These two would be her little pawns until she got her hands on that girl, and until then she had to keep up the fairly trustworthy act.

The angel had been thinking quite hard about all of this lately. Maybe the reason that she was not yet beautiful was because she was using creatures that were the opposite of what she wanted.

Alice had not accepted her curse. She never believed it to be the cause of anything. Hell, she acted as though it never existed in order to keep some sort of hope.

But that girl was certainly better looking than the other creatures she had slaughtered, so maybe using her would actually work. It was a win-win! She would get both her beauty and her place on the inky throne!

Connor and Williams looked at each other for a moment. They weren't sure whether or not to go along with this, but she did offer freedom from this cursed place. The only trouble was the ink demon, which would probably have them bolting down the halls and screaming like two year olds.

"And if we agreed to this? What exactly do you want us to do?"

Alice stepped down the stairs and stopped just one stair higher than them, observing them with her mischievous eyes for a moment. She was a little bit shorter than the two of them, but by far the most intimidating of the three.

"Again, it's rather simple." She repeated, leaning forward and resting one arm over Connor's shoulder, the other adjusting the black tie tucked into his uniform. The cop froze up instantly at her actions. She looked him in the eyes for a mere second before glancing down at his nametag. "Connor..." She read aloud, looking over at Williams tag as well.

"I need you two gentlemen to go down and find the girl. Once you find her, you're going to have to figure out how to get her away from the ink demon, and I'll leave that part up to you. Bring her back up here to me once you have her. I'll use her to bait the ink demon, and from there I'll take over the situation and let you three free afterwards."

Sounded fair enough, other than the fact that they could both die trying to do this.

"Will..." Connor glanced at the man beside him, trying to distract himself from the entrancing woman leaning into him.

"I think it's insane." Williams said, defeated. "We're bound to die trying to do this."

"I thought that was what you agreed to, as part of being an officer." Alice butted in, grabbing their attention again.

"One in your position has to be willing to give up their life if it means they can save another, don't they?"

Fuck...why did she have to have a point?

"Alright, alright." Connor grumbled with his eyebrows furrowed, his face carrying a resentful frown. "You'll let us go if we bring the girl here and lure the demon in? You're promising our freedom afterwards?"

The angel smirked, "I promise." She sneered, scoffing at the childish phrase to finalize the terms. She proceeded to inform them of what the searchers had told her, telling them about where to go to get down to the carnival/warehouse area and to the haunted house.

"It should be open. I'd been told the girl had opened it and gone through."

Alice finished, finally turning away from the officers and slowly going back up the stairs. Connor let out a huge breath that he hadn't realised he'd been holding. The entire length of time that she'd been that close to him had been tense.

"She's...interesting." Williams stated when she was out of earshot, turning around to the gate with Connor.

"That much was clear." Connor replied blankly. "You wouldn't stop staring at her for fucks sake."

He sighed after getting no reply, his eyes closing momentarily as the gate opened and allowed them to leave. This was it. After praying that they would never run into the ink demon, it seemed that they'd have to track him down in order to find the girl and get their freedom. How fun.

"Alright Will..." He started, his expression turning into one of determination as he cursed to himself internally.

"Let's go find ourselves an ink demon."
