She was stressed. They could all see it. She had a court date coming up and then they were off do a tour and countless interviews.
"It's her birthday next week?" Jimin questioned as they sat down. Hobi had taken her out for coffee so the boys could talk freely without her hearing.
"Yeah. Plus the court case starts tomorrow. So we want to do something nice. Management came up with the idea." Namjoon said looking at the others.
"The fans will be involved and we're all gonna do an interview talking about her joining us and things like that. It might cheer her up a bit." They all agreed and went off to start filming their videos.
The next day everyone was up and ready for the trail. And they all waited as she walked out of the bedroom in her black dress looking nervous and Jin took a step forward.
"We've all agreed, if you need to leave at any point one of us will take you. We're all here for you today." They were lead from the apartment by security and out to the cars. It felt like a long ride to the court house as press crowded the cars.
"What are your hopes for today?"
"How are you all feeling?"
"Are you hopeful that this will be over quickly?"
"Will you give us a statement?" They got to the doors and Luna turned to the crowd holding her head high.
"I know you are all expecting me to be thrilled for today, but please remember that this is very hard for not only me but many people who have seen the affects of this case on not only me but the rest of the bts members. I thank them for being at my side for this trying time and I ask that to be respected while dealing with this. Thank you." She walked inside with everyone taking a huge breath almost feeling sick when Tae held her into his side and they walked into the courtroom taking a seat behind the lawyers.
"Miss seoyeon, how are you feeling today." She smiled shaking the lawyers hand giving a nod.
"Nervous."
"Don't be. We have this. Remember the courts won't give him a fair trial after he admitted everything. Today is for the court to hear what happened and decide his sentence." She gave a nod and the stood as the judge walked in.
"Bring in the defendant." Her hand was held tightly when he walked in looking straight at her with a smile. "We will here opening statements." The defence went first and she listened closely to the words.
"The job of a lawyer is to tell stories. And whoever tells the best story, the more appealing story, wins. That's not what is happening today. Mr seoyeon subjected his daughter to horrors for the last 3 years. He is not a loving father who just wanted best for his child, he took the innocence of this young girl and distorted it dragging the people who were close to her into that pain as well. Today's evidence will be shocking and down right sickening. And we ask the courts to respect Miss seoyeon as she tells her story and take into account that we may need additional breaks for her own state of mind. Because unlike mr seoyeon we care for his daughters well being."
"Thank you, this is taken into consideration and granted. Now the defence."
"Hello ladies and gentlemen. Mr seoyeon is fully aware of his actions and the effect he has had on so many lives. But I am here to prove today that he is a good man, we would like to plead that after the loss of his wife the man was so grief stricken that he decided to control everything in his life. This does not excuse his actions but all he is, is a father who has lost so much. Thank you." She tightened her jaw looking away for a moment.
"Thank you sir. First witness is to be called please."
"We call miss Luna seoyeon to the stand." With one last reassuring look from the boys and a squeeze of her hand she walked over taking her seat. "How are you feeling today Luna? Can I call you that?"
"Yes. I'm okay today."
"You look nervous."
"I am."
"Is the reason you are nervous in this room?"
"Yes."
"Can you point him out for me." She pointed to her father and looked away.
"Thank you." She sat back in her chair as the man nodded.
"Luna. What is your earliest memory of your father?" She thought for a moment and sat up adjusting her jacket.
"I remember him shouting a lot."
"What would he do when he shouted?"
"He would throw things."
"At you?"
"And my mother."
"How old were you?"
"About 5. I don't remember exactly."
He nodded again and the man turned to the court.
"5 years old... could you imagine at 5 years old having to cope with that? This makes you think twice about him being a grief stricken husband doesn't it?" He turned back to the girl. "Can you recount the events of June 3rd for me please." She looked nervous for a moment and nodded.
"I was at a dance practice with the members of bts."
"You were close friends with them at this time."
"Yes. We were doing a collaboration at this time. I got a call from the main office to say there was someone waiting for me outside my apartment."
"So you left early?"
"Yeah. We all had plans for dinner that night."
"Was that a regular thing?" She gave a nod. "At this time were you dancing Kim taehyung?"
"Casually yes. It wasn't official."
"Okay. Continue please."
"Well when I got upstairs no one was there. So I decided to head in for a shower before dinner."
"Was there anything strange about your apartment that night?"
"Not until I walked in. I was texting the boys when I walked in so I wasn't paying attention until someone cleared their throat."
"Who was in your apartment that night?"
"My father."
"What happened then." She grew nervous and leant forward a little.
"He pulled my hair, he dragged me to the floor and took my phone."
"Did you attempt to make a noise? Or call for help."
"Yes. But he hit me."
"Where did he hit you?"
"In the face." He looked to the assistant who put a picture on display of her bruised and cut face.
"These are the marks that this 'loving father' made when he repeatedly punched his own daughter until she stopped screaming. The paramedic's say that she needed 14 stitches in her cheek and 10 on her forehead. They claimed they were shock that her cheek bone wasn't broken by force." He said giving context to the image as he turned back to her. "Please. Continue."
"He then hit me with his belt."
"What part of his belt?"
"The buckle."
"Where?"
"My back and torso." The photo was displayed of the marks that had been stitched up.
"57 stitches in the back and 40 on her torso." The boys were visibly shaken by the details they heard her speak about. "What happened after this?" She attempted to keep herself together as she spoke but was starting to fail miserably.
"He pinned me to the floor and started going through my phone. He text the boys to tell them I was sick and that I wouldn't be coming for dinner."
"Luna, if you were left alone with him for any longer to you think you would be sitting here today?"
"No. No I don't."
"What else happened on June 3rd?"
"He strangled me." The image was shown of her neck looking rather bruised.
"And more pressure paramedic's say her windpipe would've been crushed." He looked back at the court and saw everyone's sickened faces. "I believe that here today is the bravest women in our current society. Even after all of this she faced her father not only here, but on the night of October 15th. When she was seriously injured upon a nearly fatal mistake made by the prisons. Luna, can you tell me what happened that night?"
"I was asked to meet my father and told I would be kept safe by the police force."
"And were you?"
"No."
"We are about to play audio captured that night."
The audio started and she looked at Tae who gave a reassuring nod."You know how easy it would've been for me to hurt him and leave you out of it?" She let out a cry and there was a thump as the phone fell.
"Hurt me all you want but you leave him out of this." She said coughing the sound of a thump could be heard as he kicked her in the stomach knocking her over and pulling out a gun.
"Is that a challenge?" A bang sounded and the tape stopped. The boys looked at Tae in shock as Namjoon leant over.
"You knew about that?" Tae looked at him with a nod looking back to her on the stand as she let a tear fall.
"Can you tell me what was happening in that audio?"
"He was threatening my partner."
"Your partner being Kim taehyung yes?"
"Yes."
"What was the bang at the end?"
"A gunshot."
"Aimed at who?"
"Me." He turned back around and spoke to the court.
And other image revealed of the gunshot wound on her stomach.
"Mr seoyoen was so consumed with controlling his daughter he would've rather took her life than allow her to live her life as a normal woman should. What happened after this Luna?"
"He took out a knife and cut my wrists." An image was revealed of that and Tae felt sick looking at it.
"Was he intending to take your life."
"Yes. He told me that I was going to die there"
"No more questions. Thank you Luna."
"Do the defence have any questions?"
"One your honour." The defence lawyer stood up and walked towards her.
"Miss seoyeon. Is it true that your father found messages on your phone that showed a relationship with-"
"Objection. This has nothing to do with the case."
"Objection granted. Is that your only question?"
The boys huffed a sigh of relief as the question was stopped.
"Why would they ask that?" Jungkook asked looking and the boys and Jin leant over.
"Their trying to make her look dishonest. Get the court in their favour."
"No your honour. Miss seoyoen. Why did you ever confide in anyone about the things your father was doing?"
"No I didn't?"
"Why not? Surely if you wanted to get away that much you would've spoken?"
"In all respect sir, your client told me if I was to speak about it he would kill me. But please, tell the courts what a good man he is and how he loved me." There was a snicker of a laugh from the room including from the judge.
"No more questions your honour." She got down off the stand and walked back to her seat next to Tae and he kissed her cheek with a chuckle.
